2a Cheapside, AmblesideFantástico, 10 estrellas para la comida y el servicio. Burritos, quesadillas and tacos were absolutely amazing, freshly made and as tasty as it would be in Mexico. La salsa picante was outstanding and so the beers. I will definitely come back.

Rydal Rd, AmblesideOn a recent trip to Ambleside,. Myself and 7 friends ate at Dodd's around 8pm. We did not book but had to wait for a table, around half n hour until they could accommodate us. The restaurant was busy throughout our meal. Staff were great and service was swift. Meals were outstanding and everyone was more than happy to oblige the service charge. I will recommend this restaurant and would definitely return in the future. My home smoked chicken supreme was the most tasty meal I've ever had.

Lake Rd, AmblesideI recently visited this place during the evening, and the environment felt calm and relaxing. The lighting was soft, and the seating was comfortable enough for a long conversation. The menu options were clear and fairly priced. The food quality was good, and the ingredients tasted fresh. Although there was a slight delay in serving, the staff handled it professionally. The overall experience was enjoyable and worth the visit.

The Priest Hole Restaurant
Church St, AmblesideStopped here for a lovely roast dinner after a long walk in the lakes, and was not disappointed. The roast dinner is the best I’ve ever had, and plentiful too. Staff were lovely and so welcoming, coming on a Sunday with no table booked we were worried we may not find anywhere but were welcomed and seated immediately. Will definitely return for another roast, one I will not be forgetting!

Jintana Thai Restaurant Ambleside
Compston Rd, AmblesideVisited here after a long hike, and I was only visiting the Lakes after my trip to Thailand was cancelled this week (war is never fun). So let's do Thailand at home. Glad I did, the food looked and tasted fantastic, the restaurant was atmospheric and the team were all brilliant.

Ambleside Tap Yard
Rydal Rd, AmblesideWe recently visited this place during a trip to the Lake District, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our time in Ambleside. We actually stumbled across it by chance, but as soon as we saw the sign mentioning woodfired pizzas, we knew we had to give it a try—and we’re so glad we did.
The atmosphere was great from the moment we arrived. There was plenty of seating both inside and outside, which made it really flexible depending on what you prefer. We chose to sit and relax, taking in the surroundings while looking forward to the food.
The service was excellent throughout. The staff were genuinely friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. Everything felt well organised, and the service was efficient from start to finish.
We ordered a mix of food, including three pizzas—hot honey, ham and mushroom, and chicken—as well as a chicken burger. All of the dishes were fantastic. The pizzas were especially impressive, clearly freshly made and full of flavour. Everything came out together and in a timely manner, which made the experience even better.
Overall, this is a fantastic place with great food, friendly staff, and a really enjoyable atmosphere. We would absolutely visit again and highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

The Flying Fleece
Rydal Rd, AmblesideWe went here as a large family group for my dad's 80th. It was brilliant. Decent menu lots of gluten free options and great service. It was just loud enough that there was a good atmosphere but not so loud that you couldn't hear anything.
The team serving us was amazing, friendly helpful and polite.

Church St, AmblesideHad an enjoyable lunch at the Royal Oak on a day trip around the southern Lakes. It's a traditional Lakeland pub with wooden beams, interesting old photos of Lakeland scenes on the walls, and a relaxed, convivial atmosphere. There's a choice of seating that includes comfy armchairs and banquettes. Dogs are welcome (and there's a doggie menu). The bar is well stocked with a good choice of beers. I chose from a menu that included traditional pub fare, small plates and what seems to be the pub's speciality, Hungarian goulash. They had run out of the beef goulash when I arrived, so I decided to try the vegetarian version, which turned out to be a delicious concoction of sweet potatoes, butternut squash, carrots, celery and other vegetables, served with dumplings, potatoes and garlic bread. Piping hot, deliciously spicy and filling, it was just what I needed on a cold wet day! The red wine was very good too. And the meal was reasonably priced. But what made my visit all the more special was the welcoming staff. The girl who served me was chatty, friendly and especially helpful with directions when I couldn't find my way back to the coach drop-off point. Would happily come here again!

The Langdale Estate, Great Langdale, AmblesideWow,wow wow! We have just returned from 2 nights and absolutely had the best stay! Beautiful room,fab shower, great location and staff that couldnt do enough for us. Extra touch was a card in our room as it was a special trip. Friendly/quick service, tables were clean, background music pleasant (jazz) and it wasn't too busy (weekday lunchtime).We loved the water dispenser by the entrance. There were small glasses available and we could help ourselves to free citrus flavoured chilled water (there were slices of orange, lemon and lime in the dispenser). It was really nice as we had just finished a walk, but hadn't taken any water with us so were pretty thirsty!

Had the posh fish finger sandwich with chips and salad leaves and my husband had the yourkshire ham and piccalilli chips and leaves. Both were so tasty, and fresh. The staff were really friendly, made a real fuss of our dog, would highly recommend this place

Waterhead Coffee Shop
Borrans Rd, AmblesideWarm and welcoming little cafe just by the quay. A perfect spot to sit and wait for the ferry, or to fuel up before embarking on a walk. All food including the bakes are fresh and homemade, and they serve everything to take away if you have to run quickly with your toastie before the ferry takes off. Would recommend to anyone in Ambleside!!

3, The Courtyard, Rothay Rd, AmblesideWe've just had a brilliant time here having breakfast and coffee. It was busy and the waiter, Aaron, was so kind and patient and showed us where to go. He was a great server and extremely friendly and explained everything very well. The staff bringing out the food we're great too. The food was yummy.
I'm vegetarian and there was food for me to have and we had someone who's vegan with us and there were less but still a couple of options for vegans.
Oh and it's dog friendly too!!

My photos don't do the food justice. Friendly service. Impressed how they accommodated the small children on a nearby table- offering to make them any dish they wanted from items on the menu.

Grasmere Gingerbread Shop
Church Cottage, College St, Grasmere, AmblesideWe went on a cold rainy day around midday, don’t let that fool you, you will be waiting around half hour to an hour. The shop inside is very small enough for about 3/4 people. I think it was around £5/£6 for 6 gingerbread or £10 for 12. The gingerbread itself was crumbly and chewy at the same time was absolutely delicious!
Parking is a bit of a nightmare you have to park at the car park at the top and walk down which is a minimum of 2 hours for £6

Both were absolutely delicious and substantial portions. Everything else on the menu looked equally good. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. I'll definitely visit again next time I'm in Ambleside.

What stood out most was the overall standard, clean environment, efficient service, and a space that feels comfortable.
A special shoutout to the handsome bald man, he made us feel welcome immediately, served everything promptly and with a smile despite the fact that is was bery busy and they were clearly short staffed. A place that clearly values customer experience and gets the basics right at a very high level. I’d definitely return and would strongly recommend it to others.

Road, Ambleside, WindermereStayed with my Mum at the hotel on 28th October for two nights and the first evening we had dinner at The Windermere Restaurant. Meal was absolutely fantastic. Staff were happy and friendly, service was good and couldn’t fault the food. My Mum and I come to The Lakes a lot as we like try the nice restaurants. This meal was as good as any Michelin starred restaurant we have been to in the Lakes. Fabulous food and fabulous service. I’d recommend oh and half the price of the other restaurant we went to on our second night.

1 Unicorn Building, Compston Rd, AmblesideChinese takeaway in Ambleside. We went for the set dinner for 2 which is only £25. (Cash only mind!) Spring rolls were proper size and full, very good. Ribs decent size and meaty. Chicken sweet&sour was pretty good, as was beef in black bean. Both with reasonable amounts of meat. Rice was really good with plenty of shrimp and pork in. Very quick service. There doesn't seem to be any way to order online and as we had no phone signal, we just popped in, ordered then went up the road to the pub for a quick ale before collecting. Takeaway chinese can be very hit and miss as you've paid for your food and taken it, before you get to see what you've been served. This was pretty good. Certainly better than the other Ambleside offering. Good value for money. We ate every single bit of it!
