We were very well received upon arrival and chose to sit upstairs. The staff were excellent and very attentive considering the restaurant was busy. The food was fantastic. Steak and lamb shanks all round plus starters - wow! Such an enjoyable evening.

I chose this restaurant due to its good reviews and it did not disappoint. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was amazing! The lobster arancini was very tasty and I think the risotto is one of the best I have tasted. Good value for the quality of food. We would definitely return.

Found this treasure of a restaurant by chance, what a treat very warm welcome, food was sublime and clearly cooked to order. I’m guessing this restaurant is always busy as the menu is changed based on season and we will be back . First class food and first class service.

One of the best places I've ever eaten. Perfect balance of relaxed atmosphere and high quality dining. Didn't have to book, staff were super friendly and attentive, the wine was great and the portions were just right. It's a little on the pricey side, but very good value considering the high standard.

Fantastic restaurant. Great service from the second we walked in, a nice atmosphere and loved the music they had playing! The food looked fantastic and tasted delicious. Nearly everything on the menu was able to be gluten free too.Whilst it is slightly more expensive than your average restaurant, I would definitely say it is worth the money. Highly recommended!Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options available

High quality restaurant with excellent staff who are friendly and polite. Food is superb, beautifully presented dishes which deliver on flavour also. Most notably the terrine to start and pheasant for mains (attached picture). Price is very reasonable considering the high standards.

Was recommended this restaurant by a work colleague who raves about the restaurant and I cam totally see why. Our table was nicely decorated with birthday decorations on arrival. We both had a starter then main and shared a pudding everything was outstanding. My favourite was the cheese soufflé which tasted delicious. As a vegetarian I was slightly disappointed to only have 1 option for the main as i would never normally choice a rice dish but the risotto was lovely We enjoyed the atmosphere and wine. Would definitely return especially if there was more vegetarian options

We went here because the Early Bird menu looked interesting. There were four of us and three of us ate different things from the Early Bird menu. The fourth one ate from the main menu and the portion sizes were exactly the same as the Early Bird. It was excellent and thus we followed up with four different desserts and four different coffees and teas. We all agreed that this was one of the best dinners we had had in quite a while. The wine, although not cheap, was also very good. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. All in all I recommend this restaurant unreservedly. We will definitely be back here on our next visit to he Lake District.

We came here from out the area as we were staying in Windermere for a couple of nights and walked past when it was closed but saw the menu outside. I had a lobster arancini for starter and my boyfriend had the ham hock terrine. Both were absolutely delicious and we couldn’t fault them. The mains came and we had ordered the same (Lamb Shank), we were quite disappointed with the lack of flavouring and any type of seasonings on the lamb and there wasn’t much meat on them. For £24 each you expect fresh, well seasoned meat but it didn’t live up to that at all. We had a homemade M&S lamb shank last night (2 for £14) and they were so much better with mint and garlic topped and reflecting back to the ones we ate here made us feel even more disappointed

The service was excellent, the staff are attentive and professional. The food was beautiful, well presented, tasty and fresh. We had the chicken liver pate, the steak and the crème brûlée. I don’t usually enjoy steak, but this was the best steak I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.

Had a lovely meal ,beautifully presented with wonderful flavours by attentive and knowledgeable staff .My only gripes of the evening are that our table was close to the ever opening front door that let an artic blast in every time it opened. The radiator that was next to our table was only tepid so we ended up wolfing our lovely meals down skipping dessert and coffee and finding somewhere warmer .Next time we shall request a table upstairs or a balaclava.
