Ordered sandwiches for lunch. For £9.00 I expected more than a small baguette, a scattering of ham and grated cheese, not even freshly grated. £5.00 for a bowl of barely cooked frozen fries. I appreciate you have to make a profit and it is in Windermere but that’s no excuse for ripping people off with substandard food. Grated cheese. Seriously.

The worst experience, only thing good was the pint of Stella and Guinness other than that not good, dogs all over furniture and tables, not long after ordering a couple came in with 2 dogs that were up on chairs and cried the whole time, dogs only cry when in destress and it was awful, couldn’t move as pub was very busy, a dog crying which is a high pitch screeching so awful, not a good smell either in pub, almost like you could smell the toilets. Food was ok but ordered loaded fries and there was a handful of fries, not worth the £7, the fact that you are in the Lake District so any behaviour form dogs is acceptable is ludicrous, we have dogs and do not allow them on furniture up at tables when eating and bark and cry in places like that! Terrible human customer service!

Didn't have the food we ordered and the alternative we ordered was cold and the chicken was tough. Won't be going back

The food is absolutely amazing. We had roast of the day which happened to be turkey (Xmas eve) . It was huge and delicious. The only criticism is too much gravy but seriously can’t be faulted. Will definitely come back.

Really enjoyable visit before Christmas. Beautifully Christmas decorated. Roaring fire on a cold and wet day. Lovely turkey with all the trimmings and plenty of choice of beers. Would highly recommend!Noteworthy details: Dog friendly

Me and my wife come to Ambleside regularly and we come to Bowness from Waterhead bay. Last Sunday was very cold, very wet and a bit windy . We decided to come into the Albert and didn't have to wait. We were served by Louise who arranged an excellent Hot Chocolate with cream and marshmallows for my wife and I had a pint of their best bitter. Both drinks were excellent. The food menu looked really good but unfortunately we had to get back for the returning boat. The staff were very busy but very curtious. ?????????????Nearby activities: There are plenty of shops, cafes and eating houses. There is an excellent Christmas shop hallway up the hill on the same side as the Albert.

Came in Saturday night for the disco. Place was heaving. Very rowdy lots of broken glasses and nobody cleaning it up. Dance area wet and people falling. Been lots of times an usually stay all night but this time we left after a couple of drinks. Too many people taking drinks on the dance floor. Security staff working as hard as the bars staff. It was all a bit chaotic.Safety: Do not visit on a Saturday night if you don't want aNoisy evening with lots of drunken yobs

The boy who served us was very arrogant and rude when telling him what we wanted for food, feels like he didn’t want to be there at all.The food itself was average at best, I had the steak and mushroom pie, but it was mostly just gravy with a few bits of tasteless steak dotted about. The others had the roast dinners which were average too, roast potatoes were barely cooked and broccoli was hard as well.

Currently sitting in The Albert after eating a Sunday beef roast. Absolutely perfect. Very busy but our meals were served very quickly. Staff very pleasant and lovely ambience. Totally recommend ?

I had the burger that was on special- delicious burger but really let down by the the freezer-fresh chunky chips. For £18 I would expect fresh chips or a nicer frozen chip but these were very bland and let down the burger. Barman also not the friendliest- maybe he was having a bad day though.
