The pub itself was amazing. Looked great on the outside and great on the inside. The food was nice but not worth the price paid. Atmosphere could of been alot better with abit more variety in music. It must of been abba night.

Stumbled upon this on a walk from our hotel and the traditional pub caught our eye. Looking at the menu most options are traditional pub food which was appealing.I went for the scotch egg to start which was pretty good, not too dense and the sausage meat was not over seasoned. Portion size was pretty large so be prepared.Mains I had the pie of the day which was chicken, ham and leek. You can tell these were handmade the pastry was buttery and light and the filling was jam packed with chicken. Lovely!Portions although looked small on the plate were really filling and I would just opt for a main and then go for a dessert if not full.Service was decent no complaints there at all.We went for the house Merlot (a Chilean) which was really lovely and smooth, too easy to drink. If you looking for home cooking and a full tummy this is the place!Added to this review as we came back for the Sunday roast and it was gorgeous- highly recommend. If I was to make any criticism it would be to have some more greens :)Go early if you want to cauliflower cheese it was sold out when got there :(

If you like your food bland or microwaved to its last legs this is the place for you.My wife actually burned her mouth on a oppenheimer inspired lasagne and if it wasnt for salt and vinegar i wouldnt know i was eating fish n chips.Go to Tesco Express instead and save yourself some money on a meal deal !!!!

Had a great meal here while visiting from Australia. We sat outside on a wobbly table that provided several laughs. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Despite being Cask Marque accredited and serving 4 locally brewed cask ales this venue feels more like an eatery rather than a pub. #Only here for the beer.

Staff was very polite. Very nice place but god my dinner was awful , i had the most expensive sunday dinner off the menu i tried the three roast. When i say i never ate my meat I actually mean it . It was dry as a bone so had to ask for gravy . the meat was just a whole plate of fat couldn’t tell you what it was gave up searching for a edible piece . I mentioned it but was left without any kind of help or replacement . I ate the Yorkshire pudding 1 dry roast potato about 4 slices of carrots and the smallest piece of stuffing probably the same size as a ten pence piece (flat) which did give us a giggle . Left hungry

Very busy, excellent food with a good choice, waitress was exceptionally good. Walked straight in, table for three and speedy table service. Most importantly dog friendly with water and gravy bones on the ready.

my husband and I stopped into this pub for an early dinner and were blown away! Daisy and Sophie were absolutely lovely and looked after us with so much care. the food was delicious. i highly recommend anyone coming in on a cold day to get the traditional lancashire hot pot and the steak and ale pie. the chips were the best ive ever had, both dishes full of flavour and a tremendous portion of gravy, the good stuff. we will be back!
This is a very cute little pub in a lovely town. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. We had the pie of the day deal which was very reasonable with one of the local cask ales. The pie was filled to the brim with meat and gravy and tasted delicious. The cask ale was very tasty and tropical. Would definitely recommend this pub for a traditional pub grub meal.

Taken to a table by a young gentleman who didn’t look at us and we couldn’t understand what he was saying… we said ‘pardon?’ … he repeated his unintelligible message - still non the wiser. Food came looked good…. Cumberland ring was not cooked (no colour at all and cold - could have been raw) … we had a ferry to catch so no time to try again! … lovely place - so disappointed !
