Lovely pub, coal fire made it really toasty inside. Just the one small cozy room.Beer was kept well, not a lot of choice but can’t expect to much when in the middle of the dales. Cheaper here for a beer than the station inn a few miles further along the road.

After getting lost in the fog and clouds as it was getting dark at the top of the last peak of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, I managed to trace my steps back down to the bottom of the mountain. I was worried as I was the only walker about and didn't know what to do as my car was parked in Horton miles away. The pub was closed when I got there so was starting to panic, but saw people in the kitchen window. I knocked on and they told me to come in. The family all came to say hi and were lovely - they ordered me a taxi, got me a drink and chatted to me till it arrived. Lovely people, lovely place and I don't know what I would have done without them!

What a gem, feels so untouched by the passage of time. Well worth a stop off for a drink and little look around. Sits on between Wernside and ingelbrough mountains if your on an amble over the peaks so a great break spot.

It was fantastic to return to this legendary pub (now staying in a motorhome), nestled between the slopes of Whernside and Ingleborough. Now much quieter than in its former glory (though it is only January), it has lost none of its character and charm. We received a very friendly welcome by the landlady, who was extremely helpful throughout. It's a basic site, with EHU, water and a toilet emptying point, all for £20. The beer is lovely, unfortunately opening hours and food were limited, as the host was not too well.

We stayed here for two nights in November. Our second stay here. Bean the owner is brilliant, she provides a comfortable, clean, homely place to stay. The pub is old, welcoming and full of charm. Always a roaring fire to warm you up after a day out walking. Being central to the Yorkshire 3 peaks it really is an ideal location for walkers or couples wanting to get away from it all. The views are amazing. Breakfast and evening meals made by Bean are absolutely amazing! And the puddings are a real treat, it’s hard to choose between them! I couldn’t speak more highly of the service Bean and her family provide. It is always at the top of my list of my favourite places to stay! We are booking another trip back to the old hill inn soon!

Lovely traditional pub quite but seems like a good place to get around for a meal & a few drinks while walking in the area, will stay one day, as its very near to many walkable mountains & veiw points. Its in a good positionNearby activities: Complex of camping & barns with facilities to use in immediate areaWalkability: Good for Three peaks & other large hillsFood & drinks: Beer very good ?

Stopped just the one night whilst walking the Dales High Way. Whilst the owner was very friendly, I’m sorry to say that the room i was in wasn’t all that comfortable. Two single beds with single mattresses pushed together to make a double bed with a double cover over them didn’t work for me. The Tv didn’t work and the shower was so tiny that i could barely fit in it. I had an evening meal which was very nice but a little over priced, in my opinion, on the plus side the breakfast was lovely.

Great place to stay. I was made very welcome by the host who served up the best food for dinner. A great location if you're looking to do the Three Peaks Challenge!

Great location on the 3 peaks routine, however it was closed when we tried to stop here on Sunday. I had emailed in advance after seeing reviews saying it was closed, and have received the following reply which might be helpful for others planning to stop here: “For future reference, the only day time we are open at the moment is Saturday and we generally only serve food in the evenings (tues-sun)for residents staying with us due to staffing, however we can take extras when we know we have the staff, we would just require a pre order”. Rating based on helpful reply from staff, haven’t actually been in hereNearby activities: On Yorkshire 3 peaks route

We stayed overnight on the camp site and ate in the pub. The food is amazing and they were the best deserts we'd had in our lives - but then the chef is an award winning patisserie!! Camp site with amazing views of both Ingleborough and Whernside with easy access to a mix of walks in both directions - including to Ribblehead Viaduct. Clean. Friendly. Would stay again.

Fantastic place to stay the owners made us very welcome the room was very clean and the drinks and meals was out of this world it’s by far one of the best places I’ve stayed, it’s also right on the door step to the 3 peaks, I will definitely be going back to stay in the future

The second time I have stayed here in the glamping pods , I am really starting to love them. Think a large wooden tent with a fridge and en suite shower , a bit cramped for 2 but roomy for 1. The view across the dales from the pod is brilliant in the morning. The pub itself is ye olde worlde inside and great when the fire is on. Usually 34 local ales + ciders are on but the real joy are the meals which are superb with fresh veg grown around the pub itself. Be warned the desserts are substantial , wonderful , moorish and filling (dont come here on a diet lol) Given it remoteness it is only a 20 min walk from the train station at ribblehead

We stayed in one of the clamping pods, these are behind the Old Hill Inn with amazing views of Inglebrough and the valley. The pod was clean, comfortable and very practical with everything you needed - toilet, shower, sink, fridge, kettle, toaster, crockery and cutlery. The pub was perfect to have on the doorstep, the food here was absolutely delicious and the puddings were amazing ?!Rooms: Comfy bunk bedsWalkability: On the three peaks route!
