Second time we've stayed here. First time was in the rooms above the Inn and the second was at the cottage. It's a really gorgeous place and the staff seriously go above and beyond for you. We cannot recommend this place enough. Food is always delicious. Drinks are well priced. I have zero issues with The Black Dog Inn and cannot wait to revisit. I've added photos from inside the cottage.Parking: Car park at both sides of the Inn.

Burger night on a Friday. Staying at High Haume Farm so an easy half a mile walk. Friendly welcome. Table reserved as requested. Drinks reasonable. Burger was delicious, obviously good quality beef and toppings plentiful. Chips very tasty too. A very enjoyable visit

My wife and I recently decided to take our son to The South Lakes Zoo, so thought it would be a good idea to stay over. We're so happy we booked this place as we had a great experience. The room was really spacious, clean and had a small terrace with brilliant views. The staff were all really friendly and the breakfast was of a very high standard. My dairy intolerance was catered for, and this added that extra touch of service, especially with the delicious granola Berry compote. Cannot fault this place and for the very reasonable price, cannot recommend enough and will definitely be returning.

5* accommodation in a countryside setting! The room was beautiful and exceptionally clean. The bathroom was modern with a lovely big bath. There was a balcony with a view out to the field and sheep, cannot fault this pub at all! The breakfast was also exceptional, fresh croissants, lots of fruit, cereals and a small full English breakfast too. Filled us up for a day at the zoo. We will definitely stay here again!!

Lovely stay from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our rooms on arrival. The room was spacious and very clean. The breakfast was plentiful with the main breakfast being served in a skillet which was a nice touch! We found the hosts catered well for younger children - Highchair, cot, cutlery, blankets etc. The hosts were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us! Thank for a great stay!

Great reception on arrival friendly staff and customers. Rooms absolutely top notch, well appointed comfortable and spotless. Great on suite with everything you needed. Food was pub basic and plentifully. For us stopping close to the ratty for the next morning's run, the location was ideal. Probably a bit remote for the twenty four hour party people. We found it great value for money.

We stayed at the Black Dog for the evening in room number 2, what a fantastic find! A traditional pub where the locals were very friendly and the staff were lovely too. The room was lovely and done to a very high standard, the bed was exceptionally comfortable and the bed linen smelled fresh and clean, we had a great night's sleep. We had a burger in the bar on the evening which were both very good quality and tasty, we also enjoyed a couple of pints. Breakfast was fantastic too, we have a yoghurt, granola and honey pot followed by the special of the day which was poached egg, sausage and bacon on toast which came with a side serving of hash browns all very good quality food and cooked well. If we were in the area again we would most definitely stay here again. Nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere good to stay in the locality.

I would like to thank all the staff for making my stay. Accommodation is fantastically spotlessly clean and spacious with the added balcony ?. Fantastic value. The pub downstairs what a friendly bunch. All were good crack. My meal on Tuesday was spot on the best burger I've had in years. With the added extra on the bar sausage Tuesday, what a result. My breakfast was out the top draw fantastic. Your selection or real ales ? were great. I'm already checking online to grab some. Thanks for looking after me. I shall defo be returning 10 out of 10 folks to all staff.Mark

My partner and I travelled up early to stay in this hotel on Friday night as we had a zoo experience booked early on Saturday morning. The hotel was beautiful and the rooms were to a very high standard. We hadn't booked a table for tea but we were offered one when we arrived. The burgers were delicious, as was the sticky toffee pudding. The bed was really comfy. The breakfast was delicious the morning after. The service was amazing. I left my earrings at the hotel when we checked out, and they contacted me. I was able to go back and pick them up.
