Called and in at lunch time . The wife has a gluten free diet. This is the first fish and chip shop that has a very comprehensive Menu for gluten free diets. Even down to the vinegar. All sauces were home made. The portions are a good size and the staff are friendly and attentive.Definitely recommend this chip shop

Due to a terrible mobile phone signall we almost didn't find this place. Luckily for us a local bloke on a disability scooter knew exactly where it was and directed us to the door (cheers pal). My sone and I arrived shortly after 1.00pm and were greeted by a very friendly young bloke who seemed to be doing everything from waiting on to cooking the food, to dealing with enquiries regarding food allergies and everything in between. If he isn't the proprietor the proprietor needs to give him a big pay rise, he truly is a credit to you. I ordered jumbo haddock, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce. I also ordered a side of bread and butter and a pot of tea. My son ordered pie and chips, I'm not sure what pie it was, but I do know that he enjoyed it thoroughly. Our food arrived without delay. I'm used to fish and chip restaurants only putting a single tea bag into a huge pot of hot water, but here I got three - woohoo! The tea was very refreshing, thank you. The fish was freshly cooked as were the chips, my son said the pie was both very hot and, as mentioned above, delicious. The fish was well cooked and tasty, the chips were great as were the mushy peas. The bread seemed fresh enough and went down a treat. My only criticism would be towards the curry sauce. I know that a chippy can't produce something that would suit a curry connoisseur, but the over sweet, under spiced gravy was truly terrible. I can't think of a time when I tasted something as bad as this curry sauce. If you actually read these reviews I'd recommend maysan brand regular curry, it's used by many Chinese restaurants and takeaways and is pleasant without being overly hot or spicy. Despite the curry, everything else was so nice that I couldn't deduct you anything overall. This really is a lovely place to eat and well worth a visit. Thank you!

Visited whilst on holiday. A pleasant surprise that the cafe side was dog friendly. Excellent service and very good fish and chips. The batter was very light and tasty. The take away side was constantly busy indicating this is a very good and popular fish and chip shop.

I have tried fish and chips across the country and these are the best fish AND especially the chips I’ve been ever had in my 25 years of life, BY FAR. The chips were extremely crispy and fluffy on the inside even after they had travelled! 11/10 yum. Satisfied customer who will be back

Quite honestly the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Superbly run traditional business. I had gone off fish and chips and long while back thinking that they’re never as good as you hope them to be but this place has got it right…oh and the onion rings are sensational!

We wanted to try this whilst on holiday as we read the various reviews. We drove over 4 miles from where we were staying. Staff were nice BUT the food was below average. Whilst the chips were gluten free and nice. The cod was quite greasy. They didn't check our order and failed to include our large scampi! We had no idea until we arrived home hence the low rating.

Really nice fish and chips, ordered a large and got two pretty big pieces of fish per portion. Only lost a star as it was a bit greasy. A solid fish and chips though!
