1 Ingwell house, Main St, Grange-over-SandsEven if you're not a chocolate lover, go in! The heady aroma of a sugar rush beckons. Akhi indian restaurant
The maisonette, 100 Main St, Grange-over-SandsCame here for tea Saturday night and it was one of the nicest Indian's I've had! It was quite busy so we had to come back an hour later which we didn't mind because there wasn't much around, you can take your own alcohol in and the food was delicious, it was so much cheaper than we thought as well. Fast service and friendly staff, would definitely recommend this place!Vegetarian options: We tried the paneer masala which was really good, there are quite a few options for vegetarians.

Best Restaurants
Rogan and Co
Devonshire House, Devonshire Square, Cartmel, Grange-over-SandsIt's very hard to fault the quality and presentation of the food offer at Rogan & Co - A couple of the dishes on the Valentine's day tasting menu were easily L'Enclume '2 star' standard - circa 2010-15? Though obviously not really comparable to L'Enclume today, it's the UK's best restaurant after all. Having dined at both comparatively recently. However & this one's been brewing for a while - why as a non-alcohol drinker do I have to struggle with drinks pairings when I'm enjoying the best quality restaurant food it's possible to find? It's starting to make me question both the value and enjoyability of these occasions.I don't want to have to chose between fizzy sodas or sweet fruit cocktails. I want to drink beverages that are crafted to hold their own in complexity, maturity, and uniqueness with any drink - alcohol based or not. With the added challenge that if it's not alcohol based, then you drink for taste, hydration & to slake thirst. Once you are hydrated and no longer thirsty - the drink won't taste nearly as good, unlike those that contain alcohol - which give the familiar alcohol buzz and often taste better the more you drink.I get that the mark-up on alcohol is almost certainly the difference between profitability and non-profitability; but the elephant in the room is that many more people aren't drinking nearly as much alcohol. 25% of under 25's haven't drunk any alcohol for a year & those that do, drink a lot less or at home, or use other.. stimulants.Rekom, the biggest nightclub group in the country have gone into administration, citing students not drinking as much alcohol and going out less.Low and no-alcohol beer, wine and spirit (NA) sales are booming.Yet you wouldn't know it going into anywhere from the local Wetherspoons, thru Cloud 23, Rogan & Co to L'Enclume. Where compared to the hugely extensive 'Everything from Appletini to Zinfandel' drinks lists, the NA options seem like an afterthought; or mixers & ingredients (for the food menu items or the many alcohol based cocktails & drinks offered) . Notwithstanding that L'Enclume does have a 'tea' based NA drinks flight.Being forced to drink cola as the least worst option, or sending someone to get Kombucha from L'Enclume to have something that goes with a £125 meal is no longer acceptable.

Uplands Inn Cartmel
Haggs Ln, Cartmel, Grange-over-SandsPosting following a lovely weekend break here in February. What can I say....I absolutely couldn't fault anything. We were greeted by Sue and Alan, the owners and the manager Dylan. A lovely family run hotel, with gorgeous fire places was just the vibe we needed after a 4 hour journey. The hotel itself is set in a stunning location with views for miles. They really are incredible. The room was beautiful, clean, tidy, modern, and had all the amenities. I often struggle to sleep when away, but my goodness, the bed and pillows were divine. I had the best sleeps there during my stay. The restaurant, again, was fantastic. I highly recommend the fresh pizzas and the roast dinner. We also had cooked breakfasts on the first morning and eggs Benedict on the second and can honestly say, every meal we had was spot on. Service was always 10/10 with polite staff that are happy to help with any requests we had.Drinks in the bar of an evening were great. I especially liked the selection of wines and the fireplaces. As well as the lovely selection of music they played. A detail we also enjoyed was the selection of cards at the tables, which were random facts, charades, conversation topics etc...which made for some great entertainment. In terms of location, it is lovely and quiet, with Cartmel and Grange-over-Sands a walkable distance. Taxi's can be quite hard to get, but the hotel are so helpful in sorting this.Dylan recommended us a walk to go on to get a full view of the lovely location we were staying in and they provided lots of info on local things to do and things a bit further out, which was really helpful. The staff couldn't do any more for us and we will be returning in July to enjoy the hotel in the summer too! Can't wait!!Thanks Sue, Alan and Dylan...see you soon! ☺️

High Newton, Grange-over-SandsOur second visit to Heft and we were even more impressed than our first visit! We had a pub lunch and all of us really enjoyed our meals. I had the pie of the day which was creamy wild mushrooms with ramson, the pie was fantastic and the gravy was undescribably tasty. My only complaint was I couldn't get all the gravy without a spoon.

The Coffee Pot Cafe with Bayviews
18 Main St, Grange-over-SandsWe visited The Coffee Pot today on Boxing Day. We drove 65 miles from Workington in the north of Cumbria as it's our nearest Filipino eatery. The Coffee Pot serves a mixture of English and Filipino food, with a range of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages available. The food and drinks were excellent, I've got to admit I've tried some Filipino food before and this time was the first I would actually eat a Filipino dish again. A sumptuous piece of chicken in soup with some beautifully cooked rice. My husband who is Filipino was also very impressed with the food. The Coffee Pot is located overlooking Morecambe Bay and there is a balcony you can sit out on to eat your food. The staff serving were very friendly, nothing was too much for them. The place is very clean and tidy run by a Filipinna who knows how to cook. Prices were very reasonable and they didn't hike the prices just for Christmas either. Five * all the way. Car park to the rear of the establishment.Parking: There is a large pay and display car park at the back of the establishment giving easy access.
