Lovely and friendly, a bit of a tricky drive up to the hotel, but then it was worth it.

Had a wonderful stay for two nights while going to the races at Cartmel. Friendly helpful staff, food lovely and plenty of choice. Not to far to walk to racecourse but very steep. Will definitely return.

Amazing food. Wonderful staff and outstanding views! The best place I have ever eaten at. I have been 3 times now. Wonderful is the word. We come here every year, we come to the lakes for a holiday and this is our favourite place.

Excellent super king bedroom. Lovely full English breakfast and very tasty pasta meal in the evening. Plus a pint of Lancaster Blonde beer. The hotel is mid way between Cartmel and Grange-over-Sands, with perfect views to Morecambe Bay.

A beautiful room in a lovely hotel with splendid views and within easy walking distance of the race track and Cartmel village. Good food, dog friendly and great hosts. This a family run hotel and it’s one of the things that makes it such a great place to stay

What a fantastic weekend at the Uplands. The management and staff had arranged for Eric Bell, founding member and the original guitarist of the rock group Thin Lizzy, to play a free gig on the patio at the front of the hotel. It was a fantastic event and well supported. Thank you Uplands for the experience of meeting a guitar legend.Food & drinks: Excellent food and service.

Had a fabulous 3 night stay here with my wife, Mother and younger brother who was visiting us from Australia. A great family run hotel with very comfortable rooms, good home cooked food and stunning views. The owners were great hosts and looked after us throughout our stay. Will be back.

Stayed here overnight after a day at the races. The owners & staff could not have made us feel more welcome, nothing was too much trouble. A wonderful al fresco meal was enjoyed by all six of us, with live music thrown in to make it just perfect. Many thanks.

What a lovely find The views are gorgeous and it really did feel homely . We had perfect weather to sit out on the patio and enjoy drinks . Totally recommend the breakfast and evening meal. Both were excellent and the staff friendly and efficient. If you don’t mind a little walking there are restaurants and pubs around and about , however , if you don’t fancy the walk stay put and enjoy a lovely evening or two in the Uplands . A perfect break away. Thank you hosts .

A wonderful hotel, immaculately clean. Being family owned and run gives it a friendly and efficient feel. We stayed for the races and the owner ferried us down to the town, they can’t do enough to help. We will definitely return and 100% recommend it.
