It's a nice looking place. Food tasted good. We had different waiters, some were ok, but one seemed a bit unsure what he was doing. However all was fine until we received the bill. It wasn't itemised and as a group we were wanting to pay for what each of us had, rather than split the bill equally. The biggest shock was being changed £20.15 for one glass of Chardonnay. We paid then looked at the wine list, there was a number of different Chardonnays and rather than asking me which one a wanted they had bought me the most expensive. They didn't apologise when I complained. I class that as poor service.

After a stellar breakfast we had high hopes for FYR for our dinner. I rang ahead and told them it was a special night as it was our anniversary as well as my partners birthday, which the restaurant promised they'd do something special for my partner. The starters I cannot complain with apart from the typical Yorkshire response that £14 for two scallops is daylight robbery. It's the mains that really kaiboshed the evening. We opted for the signature steaks, at £25 a piece, served with chips, confit garlic and a tomato. what we received was a plate with enough surface area for a sharing platter, containing a handful of chips, a steak Canadian, and half a tomato. When I said to the server that I was underwhelmed by the provided food she said "we serve it by weight". There is no listed weight for the signature steak. My partner went on to order an apple crumble, which she left half of as she described it like "eating gravel with some apple under it"When asked again if our food was okay, I explained I'd passed my comments on to another server, and when presented with the bill, which we paid in full, instead of handing it to my outstretched hand, the server placed it on the table and walked off.Long story short, no effort made for a special occasion, and mediocre food at much higher prices. (Unless it's breakfast)

The service was fantastic. I had a waiter called James. He has really beautiful curly hair and a big head to accompany it. Not only was he a hunk, his service was fantastic too. I think he would have given me a kidney If I needed it. 10/10

Our Signature steaks were cooked perfectly! Myself and my other half shared onion rings and mac and cheese which were spot on. Certainly gives Miller & Carter and Gaucho a run for their money! Would recommend to anyone staying over or passing by.

The prawn and shimp cocktail was delicious. The roast beef was lovely, lots of it really tender and thick and melting. The chocolate torte was the best.

We have a great experience in the hotel with nich room and facilities in hotel. However, when we ordered a Chateaubriand steak (79 pounds) , which. is very dissatisfied and ruined our experience in restaurant. We have ordered a medium cooked steak, and it comes with a nearly well done state (see attached photo) with no much juice from the steak. This is quite far away from our expected as the steak is quite expensive in menu by comparing with other steak and it is expected the steak should cook well with grill. Strongly not recommended to spend a lot in food.

So accommodating. The food was fab and we had a special place so we could bring the dog along. The staff remembered us by name and gave us the same place for breakfast. Our toddler had his dinner served in double quick time and there was a dog bed and water bowl for the pooch. Lots of extra nice touches that made us feel special Kid-friendliness: Lovely chair provided for Archie and they brought his dinner out super quick before the rest so he could get tucked in! Good kids menu too.

After a long day of travelling, I arrived at the restaurant later in the evening as the kitchen was close to shutting down. Kat, my waitress, was very welcoming and a pleasure to chat with. Highly recommended.Wheelchair accessibility: Chair Lift available on stairs.
Always good we've been visiting for over 15 years now , staff lovely steaks cooked on the open wood fired grill are to die for, chicken kebabs are nearly as good. Not the cheapest, but atmosphere is lovely , not at all stuffy like some hotels, restaurant staff are relaxed but very efficient and always take time to chat.We found the breakfast service just as good, if you like a herty cooked breakfast you'll not leave hungry or disappointed.

Visited this restaurant for a birthday meal and was fairly disappointed. We had the sharing steak and a bottle of red wine, for the price I would have expected more. The price of the wine was very dear for a bottle that could have been purchased in a supermarket for a third of the price. The setting was really lovely and service was okay, just disappointed in the value for money and was not blown away.

Absolutely gorgeous food at FYR restaurant! The pesto gnocchi is to die for and the cocktails from the bar are lovely too. The interior is beautifully decorated with ambient music setting a really relaxing mood. The staff are fabulous, Paweł amongst them, super professional, very friendly and nice to chat with. Made dining solo a pleasure, will definitely visit again. Thank you!
