Had a lovely Sunday lunch today. Pate and pulled pork croquettes to start, roast beef and 3 little pigs medley then apple and rhubarb crumble. Everything was delicious and very generous portions also good value for money. The staff were very welcoming and it was cosy with the log burners on. We did laugh when the crumble came out with the Pyrex jug of custard, a yummy homely touch. We will definitely return to try some of the other dishes on offer.

Me and my partner were celebrating 5 years together and wanted to treat ourselves so booked to have the 3 course dinner.It was the perfect meal and we were both overjoyed with the flavour and the top class service that came with it. We also loved the additional plates like the duck and the chocolate to finish.I would highly recommend visiting.

Very nice - I had the walnut burger with potato and salad. Great salad good potatoes. Burger bun tasty but needs to be softer to work as a burger bun- bit fally aparty. Chai latte nice - spice and not so sweet - unusual. Wife loved her barley and spelt risotto. Scone was nice but very salty. Very nice coconut

Fantastic food and local ales in a great setting - this is clearly a local village pub as well as an excellent restaurant. The menu changes daily, we had confit duck and ox tongue with a side of gratin dauphinoise, followed by crème brulee. All delicious, well crafted dishes. Worth travelling many miles for - if only every restaurant could be like this!

I had my birthday party with friends in the restaurant. The sommelier really looked after us with three 50 year old vintage wines which my partner organised for me. (Champagne, white and red). I know sometimes it is difficult to organise a dinner with our own wine, but since they accepted and welcomed us, I was so relieved.The sommelier was the last piece to make my party perfect. Ok, so we popped in as a group of friends staying in the village to eat out for the evening. Unfortunately they weren't doing food on a Saturday night. Which was a bit surprising.. until we found out that the owners had left and the staff were in fact volunteer locals.Fair enough.And then.. Angela came to our table and made the most generous offer - which I won't repeat so it's not expected by everyone - that was so appreciated by everyone there.Lovely locals going above and beyond - winner.

Really nice place for lunch.It's popular, so expect a queue, but it seems to come in waves so if you can wait you'll get a seat soon enough. We stopped off here on a long car journey instead of going to the nearby services and I'm glad we did, it was a real treat.I had the chicken club with a portion of chips. Sandwich was lovely and fresh, good balance of fillings. Side salad was OK, could be improved. Felt the chip portion was a bit small, but they tasted alright. Overall, solid 7/10.Wife had prawn marie rose sandwich. Similar story; good sandwich, average salad. 7/10.The cheesecake was very nice, super creamy and the biscuit base was just the right texture. The ice cream it came with had delicious flavour, but I thought just a touch too much sugar. 8/10.Service was reasonably fast considering the rush, and our waitress was fantastic. So friendly and addressed us as every variation of 'my lovelies' or 'my darlings' that we couldn't help but leave with warm cozy vibes.

We took a friend from The Lakes here for a catch up.I had the Christmas sandwich, my turkey was fatty and the cold, grisly skin on the sandwich wasn't even slightly edible.I was excited for roast potatoes on my sandwich, as I've not had it for years, they didn't come on the sandwich, but I was actually pleased with that as I found out that they were frozen potatoes and they may have been defrost but they were cold and tasted like they'd been microwaved.My Mum and our friend ordered creamy mushrooms and they came in a lovely little staub pot, when they took the lid off, it was a disappointing surprise of hardly cooked mushrooms and the creamy part was literally just single cream.My dad had the ham, chips and eggs and he enjoyed that.The waitress was very understanding and apologetic regarding the mushrooms, so she can't be faulted, a very friendly and patient lady.We were in "the snug" but the other table in there was a table of about 10 and on their works do so it got very loud in there so much that we couldn't actually hear each other.

Quaint and authentic Italian with delicious hearty Italian food. The restaurant is run by an Italian family and you can tell, seems a genuine Italian feel about the place. Beautiful hotel. Stunning remote location with some great trails into a rugged part of the Lake District nearby. Service was great and friendly. The food is exceptional.Rooms: We stayed in a balcony suite with a view of the reservoir and loved it. Decor was charming and the room was clean. I only subtract a star for using carpet in the bedroom area. I loathe carpet everywhere, especially in hotels.Nearby activities: If you continue down the road by car you reach a car park, which is the start of some beautiful trails.Food & drinks: The food is top quality by any standard. We loved every meal.
