Cosy Cup
29-30 Devonshire arcade, PenrithWe really enjoyed our breakfast. Excellent value. Toast like doorsteps. All cooked fresh. Would recommend going Only one thing spoiled our visit and that was three mums and two toddlers. The mums were very noisy talking or should I say shouting to each other! One of the toddlers was banging things on the table constantly and never told to behave. I know it is very difficult with youngsters but the mums weren’t bothered about the noise, everyone in the cafe was looking at them and I do mean everyone! It rather spoilt our breakfast because we couldn’t have a conversation

Greggs
5, 6 Devonshire St, PenrithCame here for a Too Good To Go bag. I was served this, with 2 sandwiches and a baguette. Quality food. The only thing I would say is, an older member of staff being more experienced that came to see me had better service skills. Not to fault anybody except there were younger less experienced staff at the tills. A good thing as I believe everybody has to start somewhere, however too many means companies are often paying less and an also experienced customer has to put up with dealing with one. One thing to teach them is ensuring work is done and ready.

Domino's Pizza - Penrith - Cornmarket
25 Corn Market, PenrithFood is always nice but bad services by one driver in particular scams you out of money twice this has happened by the same old guy first time we didn't really kick up much of a fuss but this time was different our food was £34.70 I think it was but gave him extra 10p so he said I'll just get the change from the car but we said oh it don't matter keep the change not long after he proper bangs on the door demanding more money off us saying we haven't given him the correct amount when we did as that's why he was originally going back to give us change back I don't really understand why this has happened he wasn't even nice about it he had horrible attitude. So therefore we got bit miffed off about that did not help the situation with his horrible attitude and got told to order by card next time.

The George Hotel
Front St, Orton, PenrithOk, so we popped in as a group of friends staying in the village to eat out for the evening. Unfortunately they weren't doing food on a Saturday night. Which was a bit surprising.. until we found out that the owners had left and the staff were in fact volunteer locals.Fair enough. And then.. Granny Dowbekins Tearooms
Pooley Bridge, PenrithReally nice place for lunch. It's popular, so expect a queue, but it seems to come in waves so if you can wait you'll get a seat soon enough. We stopped off here on a long car journey instead of going to the nearby services and I'm glad we did, it was a real treat.I had the chicken club with a portion of chips. Sandwich was lovely and fresh, good balance of fillings. Side salad was OK, could be improved. Felt the chip portion was a bit small, but they tasted alright. Overall, solid 7/10.Wife had prawn marie rose sandwich. Similar story; good sandwich, average salad. 7/10.The cheesecake was very nice, super creamy and the biscuit base was just the right texture. The ice cream it came with had delicious flavour, but I thought just a touch too much sugar. 8/10.Service was reasonably fast considering the rush, and our waitress was fantastic. So friendly and addressed us as every variation of 'my lovelies' or 'my darlings' that we couldn't help but leave with warm cozy vibes.

Shepherds Inn
Langwathby Bridge, Langwathby, PenrithWe took a friend from The Lakes here for a catch up.I had the Christmas sandwich, my turkey was fatty and the cold, grisly skin on the sandwich wasn't even slightly edible.I was excited for roast potatoes on my sandwich, as I've not had it for years, they didn't come on the sandwich, but I was actually pleased with that as I found out that they were frozen potatoes and they may have been defrost but they were cold and tasted like they'd been microwaved. My Mum and our friend ordered creamy mushrooms and they came in a lovely little staub pot, when they took the lid off, it was a disappointing surprise of hardly cooked mushrooms and the creamy part was literally just single cream. My dad had the ham, chips and eggs and he enjoyed that. The waitress was very understanding and apologetic regarding the mushrooms, so she can't be faulted, a very friendly and patient lady.We were in "the snug" but the other table in there was a table of about 10 and on their works do so it got very loud in there so much that we couldn't actually hear each other.
