We stayed as a family of 4 for 2 nights with the Christmas package. We were surprised and delighted every step of the way. From the welcome mulled cider to the stockings in our rooms we knew we were in for a great Christmas. The personalised welcome letter in our rooms was ideal so we knew exactly what was happening and we didn't miss out. We loved joining in with the carols in the foyer (with more mulled wine!) So thank you to the Salvation army for doing that. The little touches in reception were amazing. The Traditional Christmas snacks Quality street and Clementines were always available and the (very difficult) jigsaw got guests talking to one another. Christmas eve dinner in Fyr was Delicious and Ben our server was super helpful. The beds were really comfy meaning we were well rested for all the fun of Christmas day. We appreciated the pre breakfast bucks fizz and it was lovely that the breakfast was not a help yourself buffet. Between meals and unwvrapping presents we enjoyed a game of crazy golf in the family games room as well as a walk in the local park. Christmas lunch was just superb. The Christmas crackers were fab, it was lovely to see Santa and the staff were amazing. The pre meal champagne started us off on a truly amazing 5 course meal. The staff were again wonderful. Special mention for the bar staff too who made us some amazing cocktails during our stay. One of our party did make it to the gym and he reports it was great! Even though our kids are adults we have a tradition of watching the Polar express each year so we were thrilled when we were told we could make use of the Beanbag cinema room (complete with snacks and popcorn) which gave us the perfect end to Christmas day.

The service was fantastic. I had a waiter called James. He has really beautiful curly hair and a big head to accompany it. Not only was he a hunk, his service was fantastic too. I think he would have given me a kidney If I needed it. 10/10Food & drinks: Food was scrumptious!!!

The room wasn't as shown in pictures advertised.Booked the same day we arrived and arrived gone 10pm. Decided we'll cancel the second night as the room was outdated with small issues and was the reason we booked to stay to begin with. I was told to come back the next morning before 10am to get a full refund and not be charged. Then, I was charged a £50 cancellation fee anyway because we didn't cancel on the booking day before 10am.We booked the room in the afternoon, so it doesn't make sense to me.The website is confusing when reading up on this matter. One page seems to indicate I won't get charged, and another says I will.

Beautiful venue for the wedding we attended.Wedding planner was brilliant and could not have done anymore to assist with every detail.Buffet included vegan options which were delicious & vegan cheese available also. The only negative was at breakfast time - have, to book a slot very early or suitable time not available.

Beautiful hotel and spa, we will definitely come back. Staff very friendly. Breakfast was lovely. Room we stayed in was very dated, expected better for the price you pay for 1 night. Everything else was perfect!

Absolutely wonderful place! We stayed here for our first anniversary and we loved it that much we intend to be back for our next anniversary! I highly recommend booking through the hotel themselves as it includes spa access! (The pool and hot tub are divine!) We got the dinner and breakfast deal which worked out to be perfect for us, the food there is so delicious and the staff are all incredibly friendly! 10/10 will be back multiple times!

We organised a 60th birthday dinner and ceilidh for my mum at north lakes hotel. The whole weekend was amazing. The events team in particular were excellent and made the weekend run so smoothly. Jen was great at coordinating and Chris was so helpful on the day itself. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the food was great and the location of the hotel is perfect for travelling by car or train. The hotel also gave recommendations for a florist who was excellent and we appreciated having a hotel spa to relax at between events! I would 100% recommend and book again with them. Thank you for making my mums 60th so special.Food & drinks: Food at Fyr restaurant was amazing.

A fabulous place with great facilities and a big car park (free). The pool and spa are very popular - I had a massage treatment there a while ago which was incredibly relaxing with beautiful facilities and professional, friendly staff.I would highly recommend a visit, although the only downside is the cost - food and drink are very expensive (but I expect you're paying for it being a more upmarket.venue !) That said, they do a fabulous afternoon tea ?Nearby activities: Penrith is in a great location for visiting the Lake District and surrounding area. There are places to suit all requirements and Penrith is a lovely, friendly market town.

Would not return due to the general unfriendliness of the guests, and downright rudeness experienced towards my disabled daughter from two other guests. One was an elderly man who glared at us whenever we tried to make use of the wall side of the pool, which he had clearly decided was his territory. My daughter had hoped to practise her physio by holding on to the side, and it would have been possible to negotiate a sharing of the space, but he had clearly decided that this was his territory and repeatedly gave us horrible glares, so we gave up and swam in another part of the pool, but were unable to practise her physio due to the other side of the pool being partitioned off. Similar experience of aggression in the changing rooms afterwards.Noteworthy details: The majority of guests were unfriendly and this spoilt our stay.

Hotel doesn't look anything special from outside but much nicer once through the doors. Booked room and breakfast for 2 nights 10 months ago as attending a wedding. Because of the wedding timing I couldn't book in till after the wedding which was late. Mid night. That was no problem, and the night porter was quick, efficient and professional. My one big gripe was that no one had informed me prior to this (2 emails with up sales had no mention) that the breakfast TIME had to be booked also. On my call to the hotel the day before arrival i explaned i would not be there till late, again no mention of booking breakfast time slot. I was told that 1st breakfast availability was now only 7am, after late night an early breakfast was wasted. And 2nd breakfast when I wanted early departure only avalability was now 9.45am. Wish I had not bothered and saved money. If cancellation policy had allowed I would have just driven home. Such a disappointment.

Refurbished rooms, decent size and will all required amenities. Spa and gym is small. The pool is full of children and the gym has minimal equipment. Restaurant needs to be booked and is dimly lit, probably so you can't see the ridiculous prices on the menu, £41 for a fillet steak is insane.

I visited the place after recommendation from a friend.Rooms were excellent. However, the kit provided for my child was inappropriate for age regarding size of the bathing gown or the difficulty level of the small puzzle/drawing kit provided.Pool was excellent for adults but the timing for families made it tough to enjoy it in line with exploring the local area. It is open for families till 11.30 am and between 3 and 6.30 pm. Very tough to make it without compromising on the excursion time.Breakfast: served on table. the food choice was not great for vegans. Both days we requested vegan but got meat in dishes. The bread served on one of the days was hard as rock. The staff was excellent and courteousin room dining: poor choice for vegans. Could not order anythingNot very Kid friendly: nothing to keep kids engaged. Small pool. Nothing else for entertainment.Location: Near to town center. Would prefer to stay at a lake facing resort/ hotel which were costing the same.
