Recently diagnosed with coeliac and ordered gluten free fish and chips with an other order. We arranged to collect the meals at 5.30, the meals were ready, my gluten free food was well labelled and absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed my gluten free fish, the batter was amazing.Well done Sandgate Chippy x

As wonderful as I can order, gluten-free fish and chips or whatever is on offer that is gluten-free order it and pick it up no hassle, quality food, brilliant staff and especially for me as a coeliac gluten-free a real treat whenever I’m passing Penrith.

We usually have good food from here, but the last couple of times including last night were disappointing. Fish just batter, not the best tasting chips either. Yes you were busy but when Paying £18 odd for 1large fish, large chips and 2 jumbo you expect to enjoy it when you get home. Service was fast considering a queue and online orders.Maybe go to Angel Lane next time they never disappoint.

Dreadful and disappointing. 45 minutes after delivery booked. Chips were dreadful greasy dregs and my son said worst meal from there - like an afterthought. Lukewarm as rang twice to chase up and twice told the last orders had left. Customer lost there and wider family.

Honestly one of the best fish and chips we've ever had ...and we're from Yorkshire where you find the best fish and chips in the country haha! Seriously though, incredible quality fish, crispy batter, fresh chips and delicious mushy peas. Beautifully cooked...... absolute perfection! The staff went above and beyond and were absolutely lovely (we visited on Tuesday 10th October, for the manager's reference- much praise should be heaped on the staff working this night!)

Visited here for fish and chips on a Saturday afternoon in September. Fish chips (and peas) were all delicious and the server with the slight foreign accent was very chirpy and friendly. Always consistently good here and would recommend.

Medium chips £3.00.Portions are not as generous as other chippies, however the food is fresh and delicious.Excellent customer service as well.

Great chippie and open bank holiday Monday too. Reasonably priced.

I used to live up north and visit here regularly, dropped in on the way back from a holiday in Scotland and happy to find the standard is still as good as ever. Chips, jumbo battered sausage and Irish curry sauce went down very well, thank you.

Absolutely banging food ?Mrs and the kids loved it and they are very picky. Service was quick and smooth, everyone who spoke to me where very friendly and professional. I had the little one with me and the young gentleman who served us was very nice to her and included her in the order, what made her day :) Can't beat the price either! 10/10 Highly recommended. Also recommended the Devil burger, not had a burger like that this end of of the country ?

We chose this one as it said there was upstairs seating. Just checked the website and it says this is available nearly till closing time. Not available at teatime on Tuesday though they did let me use the toilets before I ate and the outside table was OK that day. Think the restaurant may be lunchtime only at least some days. Disappointed but the food was fine.
