The pub has shut for good and been stripped of all it's interior. A great shame as this should be a thriving pub with a cosy interior, dining room and great gardens, all on the C2C cycle route. Fortunately, the Black Lion at Ireby, just up the road, remains open.

We’ve been to The Snooty Fox at least five times now and we absolutely love it. Would go as far to say it’s the best pub food I’ve ever had. The chicken and ham pie is incredible (and amazing portion size) and the burgers I’ve had have been so good. The staff are always really lovely too which makes it a pleasure to visit. We can’t wait to come back again in the Summer.

Whilst staying in the area with friends, they suggested the Snooty Fox and a great recommendation it turned out to be. Two of us including myself had the trio of salmon which was very attractively presented and delicious. We then followed with 2 sea bass risottos and 2 Lakeland venison steaks which perfectly cooked as ordered. The ladies sea bass was well cooked but being picky, could have had a bit more colour on the plate. Two of us managed the rhubarb tiramisu which was a bit unusual but very tasty. Local beer( I forget the name) was excellent and very reasonable at £3.70/pint. We also had a couple of bottles of wine which were well priced. Lovely service from Jessie contributed to a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Well done to all at the Snooty Fox, we will certainly return when next in the area.

Heard really good things about this place so decided to treat ourselves, what a huge disappointment. Service was abit slow 20 min wait at least for mains and the place wasn't that busy. £21 for trio of lamb which consisted of 2 tiny cutlets, a sausage and a mini shepherd's pie. No extra veg, sticky toffee pudding was burnt. Food was very average and overpriced for what you got.
Absolutely fabulous food and very friendly service. Best meal out in years. Will definitely be going back!

This Fox has every reason to be Snooty! Great meal earlier this week. Absolutely fantastic ? food especially the venison pate with sourdough bread and the two fishy starters enjoyed by my Very Significant Other as her meal for the night. Lovely spot with beautiful views across stunning countryside and the friendliest of welcomes!!!!!

Fantastic country pub good local ales and FANTASTIC food - huge portions. ExamplesChicken,Ham & leek home made pie and Venison Bourgignone which we thoroughly enjoyed. And very reasonably priced too in relation to high quality. Friendly & helpful staff too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED one of the best pubs ever visited.
