Excellent hearty cooked breakfast served with an excellent coffee. Cafe is immaculate inside and I appreciated the log fire and also that the staff let me in ahead of opening time on a chilly morning. All staff were very friendly and I’d happily return.

Warm, cosy atmosphere from both the venue and the staff who were extremely friendly and welcoming. It was busy when we came in but the staff were helpful and approachable, even when rushed off their feet! Food was absolutely delicious and tasted like home - again, adding to the warm atmosphere! If we come back to the Lakes again, we’ll definitely be back!

I was looking forward to a spot of lunch here after the train journey but I felt the options were limited and in the end opted for a coffee and a snack. Coffee was average, overall disappointed.

Despite being served as a takeaway for our sit down lunch, the food was very nice. Sandwiches freshly made and delicious crispy chips. Soup was a bit thin but full of vegetables and the roll was lovely and fresh.

Stopped off here while waiting for the train back to Lakeside. An absolutely delightful cafe with delicious homemade food, very pleasant seating area and good value. Strongly recommended.

Popped here in the afternoon for tea and scones. Hadn't been here before but it had been recommended. Was sorry there was only take away packaging. No tea pots etc. Staff were obliging and friendly and the scones were the very best. There was a pay and display car park which was surprising for tea room visitors.

We caught the steam train from lakeside to haverthwaite, with the intention of trying this cafe. My wife is coeliac so knowing they had a gluten free menu we were keen to sample what they had to offer. On arrival the cafe was quiet, on the counter was a menu listing all gluten free options, when we started to order from it the lady quickly took it off my wife and said , that's finished now it's just what's on the board. The time was approximately 11.30am. We ordered from the board, a gluten free jacket potato and a bacon and egg roll. The bacon was over done and the egg was like rubber. Poor. All served in a paper bag, despite paying to eat in. The only advantage was , this allowed us to leave with the paper bag of poor food and board the next train back to lakeside.

We were lucky enough to stop in for lunch on Friday and they had a 2/3 course Christmas menu for a very reasonably priced £12/15 I think. Had the garlic creme mushrooms ? followed by a big plateful of Turkey dinner. Nice chunky slices of turkey, stuffing, roasters, mash, pigs in blankets, turnip/carrot, gravy, cranberry etc. Loved it. Coffee was good as well. Try catch the Christmas menu and phone to book to avoid disappointment. Will be back next time we are in the area. Thanks ?

Excellent Winter Warmer Menu, with 2 courses for £10 or 3 course for £12 pp Includes a full vegetarian option. (Can get busy, consider booking). They also have a great breakfast and snack menu available. M-F Kitchen closes 3.30pmWonderful staff, who couldn't do enough to ensure a perfect visit.

Cute mural. Thought we could sit in a carriage but inside was still nice. Not very many healthy options and could have done with more toasties and panini things. Seats too high for table which is one of my pet peeves. But I would visit again. The whole place had a good vibe.

Lovely tasty food.. organised fast service.. great surroundings like genuinely in an old fashioned tea room ... you must try the scones ?

Well organised busy cafe doing sit in and takeaway food which was excellent and very efficient especially if you have a steam train to catch at the station. Definitely recommend this excellent tea room.

Had an iced coffee whilst waiting for the train. They have some tasty homemade food on offer. The cafe is nicely decorated and I particularly like the mural on the back wall. The railway style seats look good but it is a very tight squeeze to get in and out.

A family group of 8 had a lovely lunch here yesterday. They were very helpful especially when checking foods for my allergy’s and they even made me something that wasn’t on the menu that day so that I could eat something. Nothing was too much trouble. The food arrived quickly and everyone found it delicious. There is also a very good children’s playgroup next to it.
