My friend and I went for Sunday lunch, and the usual chef was away.We ordered the beef roast. As much as the meal went, the beef was lovely, plentiful. The roast potatoes were the size of the top of my thumb, and 5 of them ! Vegetables were delicious, sprouting broccoli and carrots. The Yorkshire pudding was OK. But, no mash, no boiled. The meal was lacking, and as if they had ran out of potatoes.I decided to have a pudding, I chose Apple Strudle, although the bowl and the custard was nuked by microwave. The struddle was cold..however they changed for fresh peice of Strudle and it was hot.The staff were attentive, pleasant and I guess they have had better days and I will go again when the usual chefs returned.

Booked a table for 5 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs, requested if we could be seated in the bar area as we will have dogs with us. Arrived 20 minutes early thinking it wouldn't be a problem as thought we could sit and have a drink before our meal. When we arrived we were asked if we had booked then asked what we wanted to drink whilst we were all stood around a very small area, staff seemed flustered and then we were shown to our table in the dining room not the bar as requested. We were given menus which were not the same as we had viewed on line, quite limited options. Most of us went for the Sunday roast, 2 beef and 2 pork loin with crackling and apple sauce, and 1 fish and chips. We waited a good 20 minutes before anyone came to take our orders, it wasn't particularly busy that afternoon either. Whilst waiting for our food to arrive we ordered another pint and a coke, the pint arrived but no coke. In all it took an hour for food to arrive and I wish I could say it was worth the wait. The fish and chips was disappointing, the fish was sat on about 14 of the smallest chips we have ever seen! The roast beef arrived which looked nice but there was an onion chutney on the plate which wasn't mentioned on the menu and spoilt the meal for one of our party. The pork loin with crackling was a pork chop with its fat burnt, we got 3 dry small roast potatoes, a smear of mash, a long carrot that wasn't cooked and some tasteless greens. I'm going to say that some of the food seemed to come from the freezer especially the chips, very disappointing and to charge £17 each for the pork roast (pork chop) and fish and handful of frozen chips, and £18 for the roast beef was a total rip off! Safe to say we won't be back

First time visit for many many years. The food, when it finally arrived, was good. The delay of over an hour between ordering the food and it arriving at our table, despite there only being 1 other table occupied in the restaurant, made this a very disappointing evening.

High quality Sunday lunch with a lot more options than expected from the online menu. We had a small dog with us, so had to eat in the bar area but that was fine. Mushroom tagliatelle, blue cheese gnocchi, chicken and chorizo pie and cheeseburger were all excellent quality. Waitress was really helpful and thoughtful and did her best to make sure everything was as good as possible.

Amazing food as always, very tasty cumberland sausage (only £10!) and garlic bread. Clean plates all around. Compliments to the chef Kev, delivered to the table personally.

Absolute rip off with regards to what you recieve. £18 for Sunday dinner which could be described as partially edible.

The food was excellent. The chef clearly knows his trade I couldn't fault a thing the wild mushrooms on toast were full of flavour and a health sized starter followed by roast lamb with all the trimmings. I will certainly be back for moreVegetarian options: Thay have a Vegetarian menuParking: The general Burgoyne has its own car park

Booked with a group of friends for Sunday Lunch after seeing the photos on google. How misleading. Complete waste of money - £18 for the worst Sunday lunch and Yorkshire puds I’ve ever had, with an array of vegetables that were evidently reheated (sadly not enough as the whole dinner was luke warm at best). Avoid. I’d like to find some positive from it, but unfortunately there simply wasn’t one.

Meal with friends. Quiet Saturday night, but the awful weather probably didn't help. Young waitress still learning her craft, but polite and helpful. We had starters, mains (burgers and steak) and desserts. All cooked well and tasty, good portion sizes. Clean plates all round, good value for money. Definitely worthy of a return visit.

10 family members down for the September weekend and came here twice for drinks and dinner. Staff, service and food were absolutely fantastic. Catered for us when we asked for a few things off the menu. Would highly recommend this bar/restaurant if you’re looking for great food and a family atmosphere. Thank you to Kevin and all the staff for looking after us all.

Absolutely first class will definitely go back Staff are very friendly and polite, directed to our table straight away. Very clean and tidy establishment. We were told the specials and given a menu we decided on the Roast Beef, minimal time to wait, the food was piping hot and absolutely delicious, the beef cut beautifully and melted in your mouth, everything seasoned to perfection and very tasty. I opted for the plum crumble which again was delicious, the crumble topping itself was lovely and crunchy. I'm very particular about roast dinners and this was definitely in my top three

Amazing food. Delivered by the chefs themselves who were really cheery and seemed like genuinely lovely people. Would absolutely go back

Great food despite some negative reviews. Slow service but food was worth the wait. We took a family of 8 and all meals were good

This pub is a hidden gem. We had starters and Sunday lunch and the food was excellent. Probably the best pub Sunday lunch I’ve had from any pub for years! Tender beef and a great mix of vegetables. The staff were very friendly and cared for any request we had. Good selection of beers too. We left feeling satisfied and I will be returning to this pub when we are next in the area. Top Marks!! Sorry I don’t have any pictures, the food didn’t last that long!!

We had our first meal here today (emphasis on the word “first”). We will definitely be eating here again. I had the Lamb Rack and the good lady had the Sirloin, both of which were cooked to perfection. This was equally matched by the friendly service. Well done all.
