My first ever visit to Cross’s cafe. What a very nice place to be.Nice food, nice staff, great service and really lovely coffee. I’ll be visiting a lot more, in the future. A hidden Gem.

We popped in on a cold Tuesday when we did a panicked quick-search for dog friendly cafes to warm up, so glad we did as it was a wonderful place! They allowed our dog to sit with us, offered her water and treats! Food and drinks came out in good time and the staff were exceptional, really wonderful people! If we’re ever in the area again we’ll be stopping in ?

This place is a hidden gem, loved the traditional feel. It took me back to going in when I was a kid. Popped in for lunch with the family. Lovely food; plenty of variety and tasty. The loose leaf tea was a welcome brew. The milkshakes all freshly made and full of ice cream. The service was friendly and helpful especially with 8 of us deciding what to order. Would pop back in next time I am in town.

It's refreshing to visit a old school cafe serving good food with personal service. It's a treat to come here

On holiday in the Lake District and on a rainy Thirsday we looked for somewhere with history to visit and Whitehaven was our destination. On arrival, before looking about, we found an independent coffee shop, Cross's Coffee shop, which we now recommend to anyone visiting the town. The facility very comfortable, the staff very kind and friendly and the drinks/snacks top of the bill !! Fab coffee, fab hot chocolate and the flapjacks..oozing with syrup. Our teacake was delicious and the supporting currant slice.. just like me Mam used to make..excellent ! Any time in Whitehaven, relax yourself at this exceptional coffee facility !!

I wanted to like this venue more than I did. The coffee was hot and very nice, but not large. The toastie was full of meat filling but it was a burnt toast sandwich not sealed. The menu was simple, flexible but limited and not all prices were fully displayed. Plus you had to look at the walls and stare at other tables and customers. It was a big venue and simply decorated. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The price was average, not expensive. Overall it was alright, I just wanted a bit more finesse. This is classed as the best coffee shop in Whitehaven and the customers were friendly and charmingly local. I just think Whitehaven should expect a little bit more.

This is the most authentic, friendly, clean and efficient cafe in the town of Whitehaven, now run by a third generation. Don't expect haute cuisine, but you'll get smiles, good Northern food, cleanliness, and fair prices. Full of local customers who knew each other and were happy to share some craic on a snowy morning. The only place to visit!
