No review I could write would do this place justice. Everything was spot on, friendly staff and food you would drive hours for. The portions, the flavours, the naan... Visit visit ?

I dine in Indian, Bangladeshi, etc restaurants circa 75 time a year and more often than not I'm disappointed! However, the food I had at Bari was off the scale and then some; chicken tikka starter - mirchi ka bahaar and garlic naan bread.Thank you so much to everyone who served and cooked for me ?

Had a takeaway few days ago. The curries were too salty and found a hair in my bread. New chef maybe? I tried to ring few times but no answer. My family and I wasn’t happy. I’ve been coming here since they opened and it’s always been nice. The food taste has changed overtime but it’s always been nice except this time. Shame I spent quite a bit too. There’s times I’ve been collecting my takeout and nobody is there to attend to me on arrival, no bell or any way to get someone’s attention. I have to wait a long while for someone to appear from what seems like a closed kitchen door. Sometimes I would have to wait longer because takeaway isn’t ready. Very frustrating but didn’t want to cause a scene in front of others customers/diners. I’d appreciate if they gave me a later time to collect my meal. I’ve also noticed the tall girl don’t work there anymore . She was top notch. Anyways just sharing my experience. Don’t mean to put people off from coming here but not really been happy with the waiting around and recent experience. The place in general is nicely decorated and a great wam atmosphere. Hope they take my feedback onboard.

Lovely tasty food and good size portions . We could not fault . It was a very cold night as it had snowed and the restaurant was very warm with a lovely log fire on . It was the first time we had visited and we will definitely be back . The service was lovely .

We went to the Bari tonight for an anniversary meal. Previously visited when the restaurant was in Carlisle and enjoyed it. Unfortunately we received mixed samosas (1 meat and 1 veg) when only 2 vegetable ones was ordered for one of our starters. I am vegetarian so really not ideal and meant half the starter was left. The waitress apologised when taking the plates away and told us she would let the chef know & I asked her to check my vegetarian main had been put through, which it had.We aren't the type to bring it up a second time to the staff there but nothing was acknowledged further, and nothing offered to be taken off the bill.We were the only customers in but to be expected mid-week.The mains in fairness were nice and it is nicely decorated inside but can't see us returning.

Food is cooked fresh and it is very tasty. The staff are friendly creating a great atmosphere. The Indian music and the open fire creates a nice ambience. We loved it.

We had long looked out for a good, local, restaurant at which we could get a tasty curry. We found it the Bari at Bird in Hand. A family celebration with seven of us, all enjoying a good curry. From the start the staff were very friendly and accommodating of us. The premises are in great order with well arranged separate dining areas depending on the privacy level wanted. The menu gives plenty of choice from mild to hot (flavour) in the dishes. Each course being prepared for us, rather than just dishing up out of a pan! The food was very good and enough to satisfy the appetite. As said, the staff were very good and nothing was too much trouble. An enjoyable evening and we will visit again.

Attended here recently for our first sit in meal after having many takeaways-disappointed to say the least-on going in we were taken to a table and given menus-the place was freezing & couldn’t even take my coat off-only heating was a tiny electric heater-which was turned off after about half an hour-there was a coal fire but everyone was seated away from this !!!! Not sure why?? The waiter watched us constantly until we placed our order then paced up & down making us feel very uncomfortable-we ordered Chardonnay wine which was sooo sweet we cud not drink it-the meal came & was dumped on the table which already had our poppadoms & chutneys on so there was not enuf room but that did not seem to bother the waiter & he left-the meal was tepid & very little spice-unlike any takeaway we have previously had from here-to be honest this restaurant is in the wrong location-it shud not be on a country road with very little passing trade & I believe that is why the meals are not hot as u wud expect as they probably just heat food up when people come in & order!!! We will have to think long & hard before frequenting this establishment again & will probably go into Wigton for our next takeaway-Carlisle is not far for a sit down meal-it’s a shame as they have decorated the inside nicely hut who can sit & eat a tepid meal In the cold with their coat on?? Not me for one!! I personally think this premises wud of benefited from being rebranded as the local pub once again then the locals may use the place more-I feel for the owners as this cannot be a viable business & feel things need to be tightened up-meals hot & the level of spice the menu says-I for one will not be back-sorry very disheartened & let down & this was Not a cheap meal by any means !!!!! I also feel customers shud be asked about any allergy’s they have in this day & age-at no time was that questioned given to our party!! Management please think seriously about your customers needs & requirements as this establishment does not meet people’s requirements as it is ? maybe time for a career rethink ??

As always, good food, good service and value for money in this day and age. I am forever recommending this restaurant

Food was nice although nan bread a bit overdone but alright. Service has gone down since the last time I had a takeaway from here. Not only did I receive my takeaway late on this occasion, I noticed a few others waiting a while too. No apologies/reasons/ acknowledgment for delay. A family member also had a takeaway a week or so before us and was given the wrong meal so had to go back. He also received awful service. Lady on phone didn’t even apologise when he called to tell them of their mistake. Disappointing experience!

Lovely spot, lucky to have such a place close by. Food is superb, staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Plenty of parking. It does often look closed but the tinted windows are the reason behind that. Maybe a wee illuminated sign would help?
