Greggs
3 King St, WigtonLove this greggs soooo much! I wouldn't go to another. Absolutely lovely staff who are quick to help and also quick to correct situations when things haven't been available and we've ordered on the app. They really deserve the credit for how great they are and I appreciate the efforts they've gone through to keep me informed. I'm disabled and autistic and they let us know they were closing for refurbishment and can not express how greatful I am for that xxx

Royas
3 Eden St, Silloth, WigtonI can honestly say this was the best pizza takeaway I've had. My husband doesn't even like pizza (we came out for Chinese but it was shut ?) but even he said it was really good. We had veggie pizza and spicy chips. Loved it, thank you!

The Oddfellows Arms Caldbeck
Caldbeck, WigtonLovely historical pub, took my visiting friend for dinner after a little walk up the Cumbria way to clear our heads Saturday gone ....always a nice little pitstop after a walkI had the fish and chips he had the burger , great portions when they cale...we did have a good wait for them I've gotta say and as someone said the batter on the fish was inconsistent nice and crispy in places then that tivj in others it was stodgy soft probably not cooked through the batter..It was £17.95 had it been £13 I wouldn't have mentioned it but when things are these prices they need to be close to perfect I think. The fish itself was nice though, the 2 young girls on the bar were lovely and attentive. The pub as always lovely ambience, will be back with family the main dining are for evenings is a stunning room..Thank you all.

Inn at the Bush
station road, Kirkbride, WigtonSo glad to have found a pub with great tasting ales and Sunday roasts for meat eaters (lamb, ham, turkey and beef) and more than enough choice of yummily cooked vegetables for vegetarians ( roast pots, mash, carrot and swede, sprouts, red cabbage, stuffing, Yorkshire pud, peas, baked creamed cauliflower, roast parsnips). Very tasty food and the gravy was delicious. Am just waiting for my rhubarb crumble and custard to arrive. Prices are very reasonable and I very much look forward to my next Sunday lunch here.

The Muddy Duck Cafe and Tearoom
The old smithy Midtown, CaldbeckWhat a gem of a find this was. Such a lovely view of the little river whilst sitting on the benches. The hot chocolate was absolutely delicious and my husband says his coffee was one of the best he's tasted. Sausage roll and quiche were also really nice and the young blonde lady who served us was very friendly ☺

The Oddfellows Arms
Bolton Low Houses, WigtonThis is a great pub that deserves to be better known. We went for Wednesday Steak night. You need to book in advance as it is popular. No wonder when a great 10oz sirloin steak is £13. We hope to back next time we visit the Lakes.

Emily's Black Lion
The Square, WigtonGreat little pub serving locals and tourists alike at down to earth prices. Like many rural pubs you wonder how they can keep going, especially through the winter, but we're really pleased they do.

Ye Olde Greyhound Inn
Bromfield, WigtonWe visited last weekend and the food was amazing as always, never eaten steak as good anywhere ever. Tony who owns the pub also has an amazing butchers in cockermouth. When we visited there we asked him if he had any tables for Saturday night, however they were fully booked that night, however he managed to arrange an early table for us as a massive favour. The food is freshly cooked, not mass produced food like many places, and the staff are all very attentive and welcoming. The pub is only open a few days a week so if you can you need to book well in advance and you will not be disappointed at all. They are very reasonably priced and the quality is off the scale and no other establishment in the area will come close, so thank you very much for amazing food and fabulous service, look forward to coming back soon

Stellas Bistro
Park Terrace, The Green View Guest House, 6, Criffel St, Silloth, WigtonWe have just had the most delightful evening in Stella's Bistro. What a find. Each course was better than the one preceding it and there was a good range of drinks to choose from. If you're really lucky, you'll have the company of the proprietor, Graeme. He was attentive without being intrusive, and gave generously of his knowledge and experience of the local area and beyond. The bistro is based within the Green View Guest House, a building of local historic interest and fabulous views, combined with a very affectionate reference to Stella, for whom it is named. The food (which is what we went for), was chosen from a select, seasonal menu, and cooked, by Arch, to perfection. Generous portions had us thinking we were unlikely to finish our meals.........but we did ?.Oh to live near enough to go back.Menu; starters; duck pate with toast, and potato and mushroom pave. Mains, both had rump of lamb with colcanon and a jus to die for (jus, not gravy ?). Deserts; both had home made banana and toffee ice cream with a peanut butter cookie. Thankfully, we didn't have too far to roll home. Not open on Mon/Tues.
