We have just had the most delightful evening in Stella's Bistro. What a find. Each course was better than the one preceding it and there was a good range of drinks to choose from. If you're really lucky, you'll have the company of the proprietor, Graeme. He was attentive without being intrusive, and gave generously of his knowledge and experience of the local area and beyond. The bistro is based within the Green View Guest House, a building of local historic interest and fabulous views, combined with a very affectionate reference to Stella, for whom it is named. The food (which is what we went for), was chosen from a select, seasonal menu, and cooked, by Arch, to perfection. Generous portions had us thinking we were unlikely to finish our meals.........but we did ?.Oh to live near enough to go back.Menu; starters; duck pate with toast, and potato and mushroom pave. Mains, both had rump of lamb with colcanon and a jus to die for (jus, not gravy ?). Deserts; both had home made banana and toffee ice cream with a peanut butter cookie. Thankfully, we didn't have too far to roll home. Not open on Mon/Tues.

Stayed here with two old school friends as part of our annual Lake District golf week. We were slightly nervous as, the last time we had stayed overnight in Silloth, the experience had not been a good one. However this was in the days before Green View opened and we needn't have been in the least bit anxious. From my first contact with Graeme to book our stay to wishing him goodbye before we went to tackle Silloth's famous golf links, I and my friends were thoroughly entertained. Despite hailing from 'darn sarf', Graeme's knowledge of his adopted town is encyclopaedic and I, a Cumbrian by birth, learnt loads about Silloth's history not to mention marvelling at his tales of the London theatres where the eponymous Stella trod the boards. The rooms were perfect - spotlessly clean, very well appointed with some lovely touches (fresh milk in bottles in the mini fridge rather than those dreadful UHT cartons that most hotels provide) and super efficient showers not to mention a great view of the green if you're room is at the front of the building. I mustn't forget Archie who may not have been as visible as Graeme but made up for it with his culinary skills. We had a wonderful meal in Stella's Bistro preceded and followed by drinks in the bar and a great bottle of wine with our meal. All in all, a wonderful stay. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel very welcome! The only drawback? The weather! After 2 days of solid sunshine, the rain returned to the Solway Firth with a vengeance the following morning and my golf suffered as I became more and more sodden. That being said, would we return? Absolutely! Plans are afoot to revisit in July 2024 and I'm quite sure, if I give him enough notice, Graeme will even be able to make sure that the sun shines!

My wife and I had a lovely short break here. We had the four-poster room, which is on the second floor and has the best views over the green and out to Solway Firth and Scotland beyond. The room also has a super-large shower. Lovely that we had fresh milk and water in the little fridge in the room. Graeme was the perfect host (so knowledgeable) and huge credit to Archie for the wonderful food. We booked one evening meal at the bistro (Stella's) within the hotel and both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and the ability to have a pre-dinner drink in the lounge. Note that non-residents can also book a table at Stella's, but I would recommend booking in advance to ensure you get a table. And I have to confess to Graeme that, having looked at the bill when we got home, I strongly suspect we were not charged for our two glasses of wine on the second night. We shall rectify that on our next visit ? Thanks again for a lovely stay!

A gem of a restaurant. The food was incredible, and the host was so lovely. I couldn't recommend Stella's Bistro more highly.

A small guest house with a warm and helpful proprietor. Our room was very small, but rated high on the 'cosy' scale with pretty wallpaper, bedding, and framed pictures. The whole establishment was eclectically decorated in a very individual style that felt full of love and personality. As cyclists, we were pleased that it had a dedicated area to lock away our bikes.

Just back from another great 2 night stay at Green View Guest House. This is my go to default option when looking for somewhere to stay whilst in Silloth to play golf. As always, Graeme was the perfect host and nothing was ever any trouble. I always ask for the single room as it’s just the perfect size for me. The breakfast each morning was just perfect, nice creamy scrambled eggs or lovely poached eggs and a rare treat for me - Cumberland sausage. Thank you once again Graeme for another wonderful and peaceful stay. All being well I will see you in 2024.

I found the Green View a charming place to stay, situated right on the green at Silloth. The welcome from Graham the host was friendly and he is a fount of knowledge on local history with great suggestions of where to visit. ( The Devil's Porridge museum in Annan was a great tip). The room was large, clean and comfortable. The best thing about this place is the food - great breakfast and amazing dinner in the bijou bistro if you're lucky enough to bag a table. I would definitely stay again.

Our first visit to this wonderful bed and breakfast located in a perfect location within Silloth, over looking the town green. On arrival the welcome was friendly and welcoming and the property is wonderfully decorated in retro style, with a comfy and relaxing atmosphere. We stayed in the double room, which is a good sized room, with a nice ensuite with a large shower. Also available is a single room, twin room and a king-size double with seaview. The hosts are very friendly and approachable, with a wealth of local knowledge. Make sure to take in all the informative posters and old photos throughout the property. If you're looking for good value accommodation in a central location, then I highly recommend this bed and breakfast
