We visited last weekend and the food was amazing as always, never eaten steak as good anywhere ever. Tony who owns the pub also has an amazing butchers in cockermouth. When we visited there we asked him if he had any tables for Saturday night, however they were fully booked that night, however he managed to arrange an early table for us as a massive favour. The food is freshly cooked, not mass produced food like many places, and the staff are all very attentive and welcoming. The pub is only open a few days a week so if you can you need to book well in advance and you will not be disappointed at all. They are very reasonably priced and the quality is off the scale and no other establishment in the area will come close, so thank you very much for amazing food and fabulous service, look forward to coming back soon

Had an absolutely amazing meal here on the last night of our holiday. If we had found it earlier in the week we would have been in more than once. The staff were very pleasant and attentive without being in your face. The food was first class. It was plentyfull and served piping hot. The chips were to die for. This little gem is off the beaten track but well worth the journey, reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

What a gem!!!Tucked away in the corner, in the middle of nowhere, but possibly the best food weve eaten in the Lakes (or anywhere else in the UK for that matter)Food was absolutely amazing, and very reasonably priced and generous portions.Staff were all super friendly and the restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere and the decor is wonderfully eclectic but sophisticated too.We really enjoyed our visit here and would definitely return next time were in the Lakes.
