We ate here on recommendation from a friend. The food was about 50% cheaper than other pubs in Bowness. A traditional pub. Clean & friendly staff. The meals were lovely though not a massive portion so we had a pudding too. Still cheaper than the rest of town including a dessert! Recommended

We were looking for lunch, good job we got in early. Became very busy. Great food and staff very friendly.

Ic and Flic making their first visit here. I have only been a couple of times. Very traditional pub. Had a good pint of Theakstones Best. Very good but the only real ale on. Seems very quiet compared to those close by. No food but a proper games room to the rear with pool and darts. (Flic thought darts involved pinning his brother to the board.) Pool skills even worse.

Just popped in for a few games of pool on a cold February afternoon. Proper pub!

Quick pint, game of pool £1, and free darts whats not to like!? Would definitely come again. Clean toilets, well furnished inside, great mix of songs.

Just back from a 2 night break. We visited this pub and have to say it’s fantastic, the open fire, the fantastic owner and many beers to choose from. Dog friendly also has a pool table and darts board. Great terrace upstairs for the summer months! Highly recommended for its great atmosphere ?

Nice Inn next door to our campsite. Called for 1 last drink before heading home. Fairly quiet as not many there but can imagine it can fill up at busier times. Lots of seating and quite large once inside as only looks a small pub from outside!Did food in 2018 but not sure if this is still available now. Didn't see any menus etc, but as not there for food it wasn't an issue

Stopped in here for a drink as husband wanted to watch a football match (which was on sky sports & not available on normal digital channels) No food available but they allowed you to bring in take away. ( which we noticed some folks did) Drinks fair priced for town centre.

I loved this pub , just 50 yards off the main Street , if you want a drink without the tourist crowd then look out this place , it even has beer mats...how great to be able to drink without getting dripped on.Give the OLD JOHN PEEL INN ago you'll like.

Nice small old man's pub with nice staff and beers but only one TV so wouldn't recommend for watching sport
