We visited as a group of 15 relatively mature ladies arpund 1pm on a Saturday. The pub was quite busy with people watching the football. I asked if they could accommodate us for drinks and the lady behind the bar stated that they could. We proceeded to order drinks and as there were not enough seats the majority of us stood in a group close to the bar. The door from upstairs then opened, and the man (I am assuming the Landlord) told us very rudley to move. There was no sign on the door to say 'keep clear'. After this one of the group went to use the toilet and mistakenly opened the door to the gents. She was screamed at by bar staff that it was the gents! The noise of us having fun and our chatter must have been a little too loud as the tv volume for the football was turned very high. We were certainly made to feel uncomfortable that we abandoned most of our drinks and left. I can't believe that these people are running what could be a great pub in a big hospitality area...I don't think they know the meaning of the word!

Very rude bar tender refused to replace my drink after the tonic went flat after being poured too quickly. She said that factors such as wearing lipstick and having eaten food can all make tonic go flat in a G&T? Which is complete nonsense. So very rude and terrible customer service.

My dad 60th birthday. We came in for a drink before our meal in the italian next door.We were told to leave the premises because on of our party had no ID even though she’s 25.We were happy to still have a drink and 1 soft drink but instead the land lady shouted across the room that we are to leave immediately because we couldn’t prove the age.Disgusted(Wet dogs on the floor, a party of 6 thrown out) great hospitality

Went for a few drinks in the evening as a visitor to Windermere and was made to feel extremely unwelcome by the rude landlady and the landlord wasn’t much better! This is clearly a place where only locals are welcome so I would definitely avoid at all costs as a tourist/holidaymaker.

The scruffy woman behind the bar this Christmas Eve was horrid. A lovely family came in with children and sat down with a drink. She then told a young lady (who was clearly much older than 20) for her ID. She didn’t have one and told her to leave the premises, she treated this family awfully!! She then proceeded to follow the young lady outside and shout at her, also trying to snatch alcohol from her! She also asked me for my ID and appeared disappointed that I was over the age of 19!! This is no way to treat anybody on Christmas Eve. The lady behind the bar was scaring children. She appears to be jealous of the well presented young women. She then came into the pub and apologised for the family’s behaviour when they did nothing wrong! We left because we didn’t feel welcome and couldn’t be somewhere which treated young women so poor. Do not go to this pub.

Fantastically busy, almost without fail; drinkers pub as they do not do food, but always friendly and often have sports on. Usual range of lagers and ales and service usually quick and always friendly, it has quite recently become a Craft Union Pub so will be interesting to see what the future holds for this popular Windermere pub.

Absolutely terrible. Genuinely the worst bar av been to. Most exciting part of it was watching someone drop £200 on the bandit. Walls were lifting, bar staff were lifting, people in there… lifting. The drink if a had actually got served one would have also been poison.

We found this pub, to be welcoming and friendly. As there was7 in our party, we were able to all sit together with the locals helping us find seats and moving around to accommodate us!! Lovely warm fire greeted us on a wet and miserable day

We'd had a great week in Ambleside was made to feel welcome in all pubs there, this one day we decide to try the queens in windermere. What a miserable couple behind the bar! How they are in the hospitality trade i just don't know. They complained about the children, then about the dogs. We came in all smiles and was made to feel very uncomfortable, Steer clear !!

Called in Saturday 17th November, Guy serving behind bar looked dirty and wore a grubby bob hat. The main room had the sports on tv, we sat at table close to toilet facility. The smell of urine was so strong we left our drinks, i went to see the toilet b4 we left and they were a disgrace smelly, urinals not been cleaned since ? .

Unwelcoming misery behind the bar, wet weekend, took coats off to hang up and promptly told in no uncertain circumstances to hang them on the hooks near the bar. Coats back on and went to crafty bar and had a great time with friendly bar staff

Older lady on the bar was extremely rude and demeaning. Awful service which made us go elsewhere
