Went in with a small child, purchased some food then found a seat. I was then rudely told that there was an increased price for sitting down and we were not welcome to stay with our takeaway items, nor was the suggestion made to pay the difference. This could have all been avoided if we'd be asked when paying if we were intending on eating in.

Having been a regular customer for many years I am very disappointed with the mini menu.Where is the drinks menu? (The lovely staff must get fed up with explaining what else is on offer?) Where is the option for cakes etc to go with your drink?I can only assume you have appointed someone (usually an inexperienced managerial graduate that can change the world!!!!) never having experienced work at the sharp end. Then there must be management board that are blinkered in making decisions for the good of the customer. We shall continue to buy your excellent confectionary, bread etc but cafe is for a coffee and cake only until you think again. Prove me wrong!!Kid-friendliness: Lovely staff

Disappointed to see the gingerbread men have synthetic e numbers / colours including tartazine e102 and sunset yellow e110 that cause harm to health including hyperactivity in children and are even banned in many countries including Norway and Sweden. Completely unnecessary for the baking of children’s gingerbread! I thought it would be home baked gingerbread but these are individually plastic wrapped processed food instead. What a shame they have missed a great opportunity of business. Hopefully they can review the concerns above and change this. Paper wrapping and no harmful unnecessary additives please…

Lovely little cafe and bakery, lots of fresh bread and cakes in the bakery. We went for breakfast in the cafe and had the all day breakfast. Everything was really nice, the bacon and sausages were really high quality, butter with the toast was excellent, what let it down was the eggs had been precooked and left under a hot plate so were dry.The menu is limited but a good selection, they have pies and pasties in the bakery that can be combined to make a meal. There is a good variety of sandwiches/rolls to take away.

Not as good as it used to be. The cafe menu has been drastically reduced. No cake + drink offers, no thick toast, no scampi and chips. Not much to entice me anymore. As for take away items, also scaled back. The trifles are only available Saturday i believe. And you'd better get there early if you want one. If there's such a demand for them, why don't they make more and restrict them to one day? Very disappointed, not much reason to go anymore ?

We visited this cafe today and I couldn’t fault it. There were 6 of us and It was absolutely spot on. It came To £45 which I thought was very reasonable. Would definitely call in again.

Lovely shop and great food. You can eat in and although pretty cosy you don't feel cramped.

Never open on time, never have anything ready and food is average at best. There are many better places to eat in Ashbourne like Friends Cafe, f'coffee and cafe impromptu, to name a few. If you need a bakery then go to Loaf on the Market Place, or failing that Sainsburys
