We were returning to Baslow for the Chatsworth Xmas House and only staying one night, so having eaten here a couple of times before, remembered our previous experiences and didn’t hesitate to book. From start to finish we were really well looked after. Mozzarella salad starter, with really creamy mozzarella, and bruschetta for my accomplice. Then pasta dishes. Really generously portioned. Gluten free pasta also, if needed. My smoked salmon pasta was delicious and was perfect with a glass (or two) of Pinot Grigio. Warm and cosy in the restaurant, and a relaxed atmosphere. No feeling of needing to talk in hushed tones and busy for a Wednesday night, so would recommend booking ahead as we did. We did the classic of asking for one dessert and two spoons, as the pasta portions were so generous and I like to virtuously pretend I can’t possibly manage pudding! Lemon roulade, which finished the meal perfectly. We will have to find another excuse to return to Baslow soon. Check the website and offers also.

Staying near Bakewell, we wanted an Italian meal. We found this place on Google and it did not disappoint. It felt very authentic, was warm, welcoming and cosy, with a good menu, and large portions of delicious and fresh tasting food. The place was so nice, and the food so nice, that I was surprised to find out it was also very reasonably priced. I would definitely return if ever in the area again.

We visited this lovely little Italian restaurant during a weekend trip to Baslow. It exceeded our expectations. There was a roaring fire, the staff were helpful and friendly and the menu very extensive. The portions are substantial and perfectly cooked. The closest thing I’ve had to authentic Italian food in the UK for a while.

Nothing special. The menu contains too many items which suggests that not all food is freshly cooked. Service was ok but tried too hard. We were initially asked for a drinks order by a young lady who brought my wife a glass of lemonade in a tea set jug and empty glass . Very odd! Got the impression the deserts are not home made but purchased at a “cash and carry” type outlet. The house white wine was below average and not recommended .

My other half and I have been going to this place for our Italian fix since 2008, and to be honest we’ve tried other places local to us but none hit the mark like this place (we travel about an hour from Doncaster area… it’s that good)Family run, traditionally cooked Italian food at its best, and there’s plenty of it, simply presented without the faff and fluff you get at some places.Set at the side of the village green this stone building decor is warm, inviting and cosy with a traditional Italian rustic feel, Gabs has chosen his staff well, friendly warm and welcoming it’s like being with family every time you visit.Starters are a good size serving but the mains are incredibly generous, delicious flavours with nothing overpowering this allows the tastes to come through of each dish & it doesn’t disappoint. If you have enough room for dessert they are a divine melt in the mouth experience not to be missed.So if you like good honest homemade Italian food made by the family, served by the family, that makes you feel like part of the family give this place a try.

What can I say!!! This is the best Italian I have ever dined at. The food and service was on another level, could not have asked for more. Also, as it was my daughters birthday, i spoke with the restraunt beforehand regarding some accommodations, and everything was in place by the time we arrived. Just a pity I live so far away, or I would definitely be a regular. Its a must for a foodie to visit this place

Having driven past so many times thinking iv never been there, one day I will go (just means driving, not drinking). I finally made an effort and went last night!Wow, why didn't we go before it was absolutely amazing. The food is fantastic and so much choice, real italin feel to the whole dishes. The mushrooms were out if this world and my partner said the same about the meatballs! From the moment we walked in, the staff and service were fabulous, so friendly and welcoming. Definitely service with a smile.I definitely recommend this place, don't drive past book it and go for sure!

We love Italy, the scenery, the people and of course the food. At Il Lupo the service, atmosphere and food is authentic Italian. Huge menu choices, attentive staff, snug, intimate restaurant setting.Really good gluten free selection too!Looking forward to coming back over and over again to try as much of the menu as possible.
