Very quiet at the time we were there. Have been a couple of times previously, food and service good.

A lovely pub with a bustling atmosphere! Food was great and service was even better. It was super busy (on a half term weekend) but staff went out of their way to make our baby comfortable and were really friendly and attentive.Outside courtyard was perfect space to eat, chat and keep the baby and the dog equally happy.

Stopped in several times on a Sunday for lunch. Always had a good experience, it's busy but the service is good.Food is delicious, had the chicken pie with chips and peas, as well as the steak pie with chips and seasonal veg. Pies were well flavoured, thin pastry. Chips hot and crispy. Additional gravy served. Seasonal veg well cooked, not raw not mushy.Cannot comment on rooms/B&B, as not used.

Called in this weekend as a party of 6.Food came out in two lots with a 30 mu min break in-between so we didn't eat together.Staff behind the bar are blunt in how they talk to you.Food was ok.Chunky chips served instead of skinny fries.Very expensive.Cheese to go with your jacket potato £3Beans £3, making a jacket potato with a couple of sides £17.2 x standard meals and 2 pints of lager £46Peroni..£6Won't be going there again

Most miserable staff not one of them looked like they wanted to be there. It is a pub that does food every table was reserved for eaters of which I saw 2 max 3 tables eating, you are not a restaurant. On the upside beer was ok and it was quite for a quick drink and appeared clean.

Great beer but not a great welcome! Wanted to try a new pub as we were staying in the area for Christmas and new year, however the welcome wasn’t warm at all, very brief & not polite. It wasn’t busy at the time either. I had intended to stay for a few and maybe eat but I decided not to. Judging by previous reviews I’m not the only one, and comparing to other pubs the welcome from the Peacock didn’t have the Christmas cheer at all. Real shame.

Similar to the previous review, we had a very disappointing experience on our recent visit. The Peacock was always our favourite pub to visit in Bakewell for food, however following the rude & blunt service from a particular woman serving us at the bar, we won’t be returning. She made us feel very unwelcome & certainly didn’t give us the impression she appreciated our custom. Very poor.

I’m generally not someone to leave a complaint but the service we received today was absolutely terrible and made us feel unwelcome. We were seated as normal and upon ordering at the bar a lady who was serving us was extremely rude, despite no provocation. She was extremely blunt the whole interaction and made us feel unwelcome for simply ordering food. I understand if the pub is busy and it’s quick, however there was nobody waiting at the bar and we were very sharply spoken to completely unprompted. I don’t expect a red carpet but a bit of decency and professionalism would be nice. Chips were undercooked and expensive for what it was. I’d let it slide if we hadn’t had such rude and blunt service.

Went with family for a post Christmas/pre New Year lunch. Ignored at bar initially, when served it came across as too much effort for them (this wasn’t just one member of staff, but both that we had the “pleasure” of dealing with while we were there). When food came it was fine but average. 2/5 for the food 0/5 for the service. Had been before and was much better but seems to have gone massively downhill. Will see what else Bakewell has to offer next time and won’t be inconveniencing the Peacock again. I look forward to the landlord’s toddler tantrum response to this as per on the other poor reviews on here when the feedback isn’t what he wants to hear (which reflects the poor attitude we experienced in his pub).

Great experience. We were greeted by a delightful lady who showed us to a table by the fire and brought us menus. This is a cosy pub with a pleasant ambiance, and the food was excellent. I had the fish and chips. The fish was huge with light, crispy batter and the chips were some of the best I have tasted. My husband loved his chilli, which was served with separate jalapeños to adjust the heat level- what a good idea! All together a lovely lunch.
