We went to the Red lion to have Sunday roast and it was lovely. We thought the prices were nice compared to the amount of food and quality of food we got. It was a little unusual for us to have to go to the bar to order, without a wait staff primarily but as we spent more time in the UK we learned this is pretty typical for a pub or smaller places so we have no issues with it. Overall the environment was nice, food was great and there wasn't a lot of attention from the staff but that was completely fine for us. If you are someone who needs to constantly be checked on and fussed about, England may not be the Country for you. We found everything to be very go with the flow and just get about your day nicely kind of vibe and we adore it there.

Stayed in bakewell for 3 days popped in for drinks Friday and Saturday beer and service fine, it changed on the Sunday we booked for Sunday lunch it was awful hard veg 3 tiny hard potatoes and two tiny pieces of tough meat it made school dinners , nursing home dinners look good, as a couple who have worked in hospitality all our lives I believe it was of a poor standard, we were given a refund and went to manners pub and had a rather decent roast dinner

Dropped in on a Sunday on the offchance... we'd been on a Bakewell treasure trail, it was cold & inside this lovely traditional pub had welcoming fires burning & food being served. The prices werent bad, think it was £13ish for our meals.Staff were friendly. Even though the place was busy they found us a table. I had steak & ale pie. It was seriously very very good. Completely handmade. The roasties had herbs & were so tasty. My date had a chicken sunday dinner, that looked & smelt good too.Was chatting to the lady behind the bar... apparently they are fairly new into the pub tenancy. I'll definitely be back if walking locally... might bring my best mate... it was that good it is worth making an effort to visit. ???

Any where else but bakewell £80 for the room is £50 overpriced.the room is very dated. But the main problem we had was after call to book a table I was told no bookings on a Sunday night but there will be availability at 7.30.On arrivingI asked the only 2 staff what time the kitchen was open until both said 7.At 6.15 I went to get a table and the kitchen was closed at 6.There was only a handful of guests in the rooms so why wasn’t I informed? All other food pubs had shut and ended up eating in the only place open that cost us £100 not the £40 we had budgeted for. When we got back to the pub I complained to the management and I got a lot of eye rolling and attitude.I never once raised my voice and I was very calm as I also work in the service industry. At the end of the conversation I did say her attitude stinks. So as I walked way I heard her say to otherMember of staff Her attitude stinks. So I went and told her I heard that and got told you was meant to.Lots of better cleaner places to stay in Bakewell x

Went for lunch ordered 3 Sausage Dinners and a Scampi and ChipsChips cold but didn't have time to complain as needed to back at coach station. Thought I'd have enough time as we went in at 1.50 and needed to meet coach at 3.30. Our meals arrived on table at 2.45 after asking twiceMust say table cleared super fast only just put my knife and fork down and my plate was gone shame nice pub but service in kitchen needs great improvement I feel I know what I'm talking about as I work in hospitality my self
