We had 2x curry mixes with battered sausage £14. Chips & sausage looked like they'd been left over from lunch time, overcooked & hardly any batter left. Curry sauce watered down with no flavour. Very disappointed as last time we went it was lovely.

A decent chippy with no issues with parking (I slung my van around the corner in The Viceroy's car park. Didn't have a clue what the price was pre-order and told after service it was £6.30 for a curry mix and fishcake in breadcrumbs. I was a little bit taken back but the meal was massive and delightful. Both staff members were welcoming and polite Will return the next time that I'm in the area for lunch/dinner. I don't envy you guys having to serve to the likes of the "Ten bob millionaires" of "Daffield" There are some right pretentious w@nkers who think they're above their station around them parts. A great experience from a little old chippy. Well done!

Came here today as im on holiday for a week in derby...half hour before closing to be told they've turned cooking apparatus off and cannot fulfil my order for chips and battered sausage(specifically the battered sausage and told me they can only do chips). Absolutely ridiculous of course, I didn't get my chips...I will be ordering from elsewhere. No where on the store front or online says they turn cooking apparatus off in a store thats made to serve food! Should be well known and advertised on front of store and on website. I'm shocked this place has 4.5 stars as they can't even serve basic food half hour before close on a FRIDAY night...not that it matters if its a Monday night as its supposed to stop serving when it closes not before!

Friday lunch time and chips re-fried.. thought I was waiting for fresh but when I got home they were definitely old chips that had been re-fried. Very very salty too.

I always feel a little let down by fish & chips, however this chippy has restored my faith! The fish was so fresh and well cooked as was the batter, the chips were perfectly cooked, crispy and light and fluffy on the inside. This place is a little hidden gem and is well worth a visit, even if you have to travel, it will be worth your while!! Also, just to mention that the staff and the owner are super professional and they clearly take pride in the service and food that they deliver. We will definitely be coming back!

Called today on the off chance …. What a beautiful box of fish & chips . I waited 5mins for a fresh piece of fish to be cooked to order , it was worth the wait . The chips were light and fluffy . Thank you for a gorgeous lunch

Called in on my way from a day out .. well we ordered our fish as they said it was cooked to order … we were not disappointed, it was so fresh and the batter was light and crispy. The chips were fluffy and cooked perfect .. thank you for making a day out complete .. we will call again

I used to highly rate this chip shop I've even previously left a 5 star review not sure what happened from then till now? I had fish chips and peas from there a few weeks ago and it was awful! The chips were stuck together and mushy the whole lot went in the bin an absolute waste of money and I don't like to waste food!! I thought it may have been due to ordering early as if they had been left in cold fat?Decided to give it another go this evening, I turned up at 20:20 and it was closed, this has to be the worst chip shop!.. closed at 20:20 on a Saturday night?
A good local chippy with good sized portions with friendly service all served in white paper bags, would return if ever visited Duffield again.

Moment the new management came in, they removed half the menu, and lazily covered up the half they’d removed with a taped on piece of paper, which to me serves as a modern art monument to the lack of sh*ts that modern day managers give about their customers. The menu wasn’t the only thing they halved either, they also halved the staff count, which you think would be more of an issue, but on account of them ALSO halving the portion sizes, the amount of customers they receive has dropped enough to where one staff member could handle it. Practically the only thing that has gone unchanged is the half of the menu which survived this managers thanos snap, because the new manager couldn’t give enough sh*ts to atleast PRETEND like they’ve made any actually meaningful changes which aren’t exclusively to drive up profits. And SPEAKING of given sh*ts, I saw a pile of dog muck on the side of the road outside, and based purely on principle, I would rather eat that after it had spent a week stewing in the sun, than ever eat here again (attached is 2 pictures of a portion of small chips, the one with the burger being before the new management, and as you can see by the burger being a quarter eaten, I had already torn into it a bit)

Bit of a follow up since my earlier review so this one now replaces it….Another phone order collected and ready on time and once home (2 minutes away) and served up all four of us tucked in……. to stone cold food!! How long it had been ready I’m not sure but it wasn’t nice. Phone call made to the shop and they offered to remake the whole order again along with a few tweaks requested to the child like portions. So a second trip out again to fetch it and once home the second time it was much better but the girls who had chosen chicken wraps said their meat tasted of lamb and wouldn’t eat them - do they use the same carving tool?? Couldn’t be bothered to go back a 3rd time but this experience has put me off going again for a while. My last experience was good but this time they struggled to get it right twice!

I left this review on Google but the owner has deleted it rather than contacting me. We have got in the habit of stopping at this chip shop every Saturday after a good long walk with the dogs. We have always found the fish and chips delightful, and the young lad who usually serves us is so polite. Last Saturday (25th March) we had an awful meal. Fish was dry and overcooked and tasteless and the chips were soggy. This is the first bad meal in 6 or 7 weeks but has put us off going back.
