Last minute booking on a Saturday night last month and we were lucky enough to get a table! Buzzing atmosphere, delicious food (and I should know, I'm French!). Staff ans service second to none. A gem of a place. And very reasonable price wise, especially considering the quality of the food, and the chef. I can see why it's so popular. We'll be back :-)

Lovely cosy bistro with hidden depths and reasonably priced, especially the pre theatre menu.

Lovely place. Went for fiancé's birthday, beautiful food. Got a bday brandy from the cute French owner. Will absolutely 100% be back. Thanks for such a great evening

Service was great but it was a bit cold at the bottom end of the pub. Drinks were good ?

We have had 100s of meals out in France, love French food and were excited to try this place. Unfortunately it was a huge huge Disappointment. We both ordered 'Poulet frites grand mere' This is listed invitingly as roast chicken served with frites, mushroom gravy and salad. It came all plonked on a single plate yes, salad and Gravy on the same plate ! Salad as a result was inedible. The mushroom gravy tasted like it was made from a stock cube thickened with cornflour with a few sliced mushrooms floating around in it. It had no depth of flavour at all. The chicken and frites were nice - if they were served without the gravy (or with better, real gravy in a gravy boat) and the Salad on a side plate it would have gained far better approval. We may have forgiven the meal but for the terrible house wine. In a French restaurant you expect decent house wine - what was served to us was possibly the worst wine we have ever had - it may have been OK when it was opened but that was a long time before it was served to us. It was badly oxidised and we didn't touch a drop after the first sip

My beautiful girlfriend and I visited here for a meal for my birthday. The bar area was very busy, we were a bit early, but the owner of the restaurant said our table was ready. The restaurant area is separated from the bar by a heavy curtain which ensures a quieter eating experience. We asked the waitress for advice regarding a red wine as the Shiraz wasn't available, she offered us a perfect alternative. I had the venison which was cooked to perfection, my girlfriend had duck which she said was perfect too. Living in Buxton we have visited most of the restaurants here and I can honestly say this was the best meal I have had in Buxton. A big thank you to all the staff who were polite, attentive and made my birthday a special day but especially the chef who cooked us such a special meal as they are often the unsung heroes of restaurants.

We were looking for somewhere to have a nice quiet meal for our wedding anniversary before going to the theatre. We found this place and it was lovely, the staff were very welcoming with lovely service. The food, although looking a little underwhelming, was perfect and very tasty. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. We had a great evening

For delicious, authentic, French cuisine in Buxton this is the place to go. With the proprietor Thierry and food prepared by his head chef daughter and chic French style waitresses, to add an even more authentic French feel, this is the perfect answer for a relaxing evening or a pretheatre meal. Excellent French cuisine at a reasonable price. L McLeish Aberdeen

Poor cooking to be honest. A nice evening with family which is what made it. The service was OK, and to be fair they took my inedible dish off the bill with no quibble. I think the others enjoyed their meals.

Fabulous meal last night..my venison was superb and my partners meal was too It was a special night out for us and even though we are fairly local it is a real treat coming here again. The owner is welcoming and genuinely interested in his customers and the whole ambiance is so good. We sat in the bar afterwards which is lovely and a great atmosphere.. thank you to all !

I usually have lunch here once a week with a friend. The food is always superb and reasonably priced, and the portions are generous. Their chardonnay is fragrant and delicious. Service is friendly and efficient. They're dog-friendly, too, and provide a big bowl of water, which my dog appreciates. I'm not sure who drinks more, me or my dag! I won't recommend any particular meal, since it's all wonderful!Highlight
