It has been a while since we stopped here for something to eat. Pleasant enough, it would have been helpful to be informed by the staff member at the reception desk that you have to go to the bar to order, not a problem, communication is the name of the game. We did witness a young couple with children leave after waiting expectedly for a waiter. The food was most acceptable and sensible prices. Overall a good experience. Would have given 5stars if the welcome were warmer and necessary information passed on.

I came here with my 2 youngest children. We ordered and had to wait around 20 minutes for our food it came out really hot and fresh. My youngest wanted more mash so could easily go up and get more Staff was friendly and very helpful as my children can be very fussy. Would definitely eat here again

A long time since I’ve been in but thought we’d give it a try. Called for breakfast which did seem cheap until you had to pay extra for drinks and 99p for a very small portion of mushrooms. Two breakfasts with drinks and mushrooms cam to neatly £18. A pub not a million miles away was £12 including unlimited drinks.Food quality was mostly bad. Bacon was cooked to within an inch of its life and would have made good shoe leather. The bacon had so much fat on it but somehow this hadn’t been cooked and was just horrible. The fried eggs were so hard they would have damaged the floor if dropped. No other egg was available. There were no tomatoes in the tomato juice! Beans were ok but had so much sauce. Black pudding didn’t look appealing so didn’t even bother with it. Sausage was about the only thing vaguely edible. All in all it wasn’t good value for money and I doubt I’ll be back.

Visited for the first time and I can say I was not disappointed. Lovely spacious pub with a cosy feeling none the less, nice decor with a relaxed atmosphere. Staff are very courteous and attentive. Fantastic selection at the carvery and great prices too. Family orientated venue which is highly recommend plus a lovely outside seating and smoking area. 5 stars from me. Wonderful!

Place was clean & tidy. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. It wasn’t very busy but did take quite a while for meals to come, even then they forgot one! Chips weren’t very hot either and area around carvery could have done with being tidied and clean when no customers were there although staff member carving the meat just stood drinking coffee instead. However would certainly visit again.

Not been for a while so called for breakfast which seemed good value for all you can eat. That is until you add at least £2 each for drinks and 99p each for the smallest portion of mushrooms I’ve seen in a long time. Nearly £18 in total. A pub not far away do the same for £12 with unlimited tea and speciality coffees. The food was not good. Bacon was so hard it was impossible to cut yet had so much uncooked fat on it - not sure how that’s possible. Fried eggs were rubbery and the yolks hard. No other choice of egg. There were no tomatoes in the tomatoes - just sauce. Beans were a little better. I didn’t try the black pudding - it looked very dry and unappetising and could have been there for a while (yet it was only 9:30am). Fried bread was nice though and quite often you don’t get this so that was a nice surprise. Hash browns were ok. Not sure about waffles with a cooked breakfast but tried it. They were quite dry and needed something with them. Sausages were nice tasting and well cooked. The staff seemed OK although the lady who served us did seem a little fed up - but we all have bad days. All in all we were very disappointed with the quality of the food and this is probably down to the cooking of it. Other restaurants manage to do breakfast on the same scale and produce good palatable food so not sure why this one can’t. In the past we have good meals which makes it even more disappointing and I would say the value for money aspect has gone as well. I don’t think we will be back.

Went for some food with my family last night and the service was horrendous. We waited nearly an hour just for our starters which we had to ask for and the blokes excuse was we’ve been pulled out cause people have rang in sick yet most people when we arrived were all eating a carvery. He then bought us some mayo in a pot and licked what he had spilt on his hand whilst putting it on our table and wiped his nose. It was like he was wired and on something rambling to himself. We were never told about a waiting time for food or anything. My family then had to wait about another 30/45 mins for my main to come before they could get their carvery because my meal wasn’t served to me. We had to ask for my meal to which only half came. The meal I had wasn’t hot it was only just warm and the rest came about 10 minutes later. Then we had to ask for our deserts which wouldn’t have taken much time to put in a dish seeing as it was only a scoop of ice cream with a square of brownie. We were offered free deserts but we had already paid for 3 courses and the bloke said there wasn’t anything he could do. A kind lady offered us some free drinks for our wait and the service we had been given. I would not pay to come for a meal here again, despite a few of the staff members which were nice, the others need to learn some more service skills and more staff needs to be hired so they don’t have to keep customers waiting how they do.
