We had our evening meal upstairs in the Orchard Room. It's absolutely stunning. It's calm and peaceful. The service was absolutely fantastic. We came with our friends, group of four, we often meet up here in the week but thought we would try the Sunday lunch for a change. Our waiter Kyle was really nice and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We were extremely pleased with the way that the staff dealt both sensitively and competently with our request to organise and book a memorial celebration for the life of our mum. We discussed and agreed a plan for the day also our buffet requirements. When we arrived, we were a little surprised to find that there were still people eating within the space that we had agreed for the buffet to be set up. The buffet table was set in the small room we had origionally booked.However the manager did offer us the option of another room, but as time was running out, we decided to stay where we were. The issue was subsequently and effectively resolved by the staff. The room was perfect for our small gathering once the additional tables had been removed. The food was good and adequate portions. A nice touch that additional chips would be supplied free of charge if required.

Never had any problems with this takeaway or with any of the staff. They are very polite and friendly. They also remembered us from one of the first times we visited and also remembered what we like to order and how we like it cooked, which, in my opinion, is them going above and beyond even when it's not expected. The only problem I have with this takeaway is that it's closed on Mondays every week, so, we have to go elsewhere if we want takeaway on Mondays. :(Parking: The FREE car park is behind the shops on London Street and there's always spaces available to use. It doesn't ever close or charge a fee to use. It can be used by anyone, whether they're using the shops or not or if they're a resident or visitor, it doesn't matter. Also, as far as I'm aware, there isn't any timer or time limit on using it.Kid-friendliness: Kids are definitely welcome in the takeaway shop and they're also catered for on the Golden Grill menu.

My wife’s request for light batter was cheerfully met, proving that everything is freshly cooked to order. The chips were delicious and the plate was nicely presented and very appetising. First time in the cafe/ bar. Very welcoming owner who explained what they served and opening hours. We sat upstairs which had a tasteful decor , very clean toilets and plenty of seating. The two cappuccinos we had including one decaff were excellent and you could taste the coffee and not just hot milk. We will try the bar on Saturday as there was a good choice of craft beers, lager and a local hand pump real ale.

My eldest daughter is moving into her first house this summer and it's a 10 minute walk from this superb pub.My first visit, as parents who love a pint in a pub, it's all a part of parental responsibility to check out the pubs near to where your daughter will be living!!Glad to say, this is a perfect community pub which is warm and inviting. Great too, to see Bass bitter on tap.I might be 'round at my daughter's new home' more often than I planned. ?????

Went here last Friday with a friend. Best fish and chips ever. The minty peas are devine. Friendly staff with relaxed but timely service. They take time to go through menu options and specials. Managed to squeeze in lemon tart. I offered to marry whoever made it. Delicious.The place was busy but nice atmosphere.

Also the opening time is perfect, they close at 1am ish... there's variety of drinks cocktails and music, if you like to dance.Also I loved the outdoor sitting, well lit and cosy. We asked for one vegetarian breakfast but they don't do any kind of veggy sausages or bacon and again the eggs were over cooked. Lovely venue but was disappointed in the over cooked items...
