Visited for lunch during the week. Nice cosy traditional pub. Service was friendly and efficient. Great selection of cask ales. Menu choices were appetising and interesting. I had the pie and it's one of the best I've had for a long time, full of delicious filling with home cut and cooked chips along with perfectly cooked vegetables.I would definitely return and recommend.

Impressive real ale selection located in the centre of chesterfield. Booked for food on a Saturday night, all our meals were good particularly enjoyed the haggis starter rare to see it outside of Scotland. Our pie and burger mains were also good. Visited in October and it was cold inside so would fancy it during winter, whether they didn’t have the heating on or what we weren’t sat near to the door. Overall a good traditional pub that does quality great value food.

I absolutely love this place we dine here as often as we can. They are super accommodating for groups so we do birthdays there's quite alot. The food is the food is fantastic I've never had any complaints, I've now tried a bit of everything of the menu and its all been so good quality. There's not a kids menu but they do small portions of the larger meals for them which is great the kids like having the same as us. The vegan vegetarian menu is very good here there's a great choice my vegan friend is a huge fan of the vegan haggis. The staff are always helpful behind the bar In choosing the right cocktail for yog they make me special ones up. The kitchen staff need a little write up as they always deliver top notch food out of that little kitchen, they have great talents. And lastly the owner is so friendly he's always walking about making sure everything is running smooth chatting to customers he really makes us feel welcome. You won't be disappointed coming here !Vegetarian options: So many choicesDietary restrictions: I do keto often and the staff will accommodate for this

We had a very tasty and filling Sunday Roast at The Market Pub, whilst enjoying live music and friendly staff. Dog friendly too which gave our dining experience a nice touch to have our puppy permitted to socialise and explore. Thank you for a lovely evening from all our family.

For a pub that claims to be the "home of gin" on their website this was a confusing experience. We weren't given a drinks menu and the staff seemed taken aback to be asked for one and didn't seem to know about the "gin of the day" that was advertised on the signage. Other than that our server was very attentive and efficient. Unfortunately the chicken, bacon and leak pie had no bacon or leak in it! The vegan burrito was also missing some of the listed ingredients. The burger was very good apparently and the fries, chips & sweet potato fries were all very good so it wasn't all bad. Just a bit disappointing and we felt a bit rushed out as they moved the tables around us ready for a gig that wasn't due to start for hours.

Business trip, 2 people. We looked at 3 pubs in the area and I chose this one as it appeared they served home made food. And it did not disappoint.. For the money, one the best gastro pubs I've been to in the whole of England. If this establishment was open in my town, "down south" , there would be queues daily. Excellent food, amazingly friendly service to us "OOT" and exceptional value for money.

Everything about this town centre pub is appealing. It's easy to write off such a pub as 'not suitable ' because it's location is directly onto the market square and many traditional pubs in these locations are described as "shabby" or "dives".... BUT DONT BE FOOLED inside is a delightful, busy, thriving pub. Yes it's quite dark but this only adds to a great atmosphere. There is a large selection of ales and ciders on-tap and many spirits to choose from... but the main attraction is the excellent food!!! They have a regularly changing menu and certain evenings of the week there are 'two for one' deals. They hold regular special events evenings including drinks tasting evenings and themed food nights. We attended a Jamaican night food evening. The meal didn't disappoint. There were five main courses plus mini cocktail to start and coffee/ tea to finish. The music was Jamaican themed... and the place was packed. !!! The young man ( and he was certainly young !!! )who served us was amazing. He had friendly conversation, answered questions and went to find out if he wasn't able to reply.. he kept us informed about the food we were eating and served with great attention. Big applause should go to the kitchen staff who work in the smallest professional kitchen I have ever seen. They work together like a well oiled machine and never appear flustered. The manager and bar staff are all great. I literally can't find any fault. ... the one drawback is parking especially during the day. The other added benefit is dog are allowed entry. Be aware it is a very busy place... AND irs cash only, so go prepared.I end by saying I have been many times to this pub, each time I have enjoyed my visit. From a quick coffee and snack lunch to themed evenings. YOU NEVER DISAPPOINT. I will be back and highly recommended ? ?

Unreal pub!I’ve come along with my 2 kids, partner and a couple friends. We’re all visiting from London. These guys went above and beyond for us, and it seems totally normal! Helped me sort kids out really quickly as they knew what we needed. The food was incredible. Sea bass, pies and burgers. Everything was 10/10! Couldn’t rave enough about the market pub! If you’re visiting near by, this friendly booster should be on your list! Great atmosphere too!Kid-friendliness: Top notch!

Wonderful staff who are always so lovely, and a fantastic atmosphere. So many vegan options too! ***Just remember it's cash only***Vegetarian options: A huge range of delicious vegan options! I have to recommend the tofu fish and chips but am sure you'll be delighted with whatever you order. They also host special event evenings, recently serving a vegan tasting menu. A must try for all vegans in Chesterfield ?

Absolutely lovely pub lovely food but came to pay the bill and we'd had a roast each and a drink and was nearly 50 quid now I think that's really expensive for 1 roast 20 quid,I didn't see where they advertised the price of it before you order it lovely pub but because of the very expensive prices we won't be returning.
