We went in today for the first time, originally for one drink after a spontaneous walk. We ended up spending all afternoon in there and having our tea ( which was absolutely banging!) Such a friendly pub, nice atmosphere, the friendliest of staff, a really nice pint and the best pie I've had in ages! Not forgetting the beautiful Mulan, we'll be back soon to load you up with doggie treats!

Beautiful food, served by friendly staff. Really enjoyed the company, but that's why we keep coming back.

Had a Christmas wreath making class here. Lovely and inviting and the atmosphere was great.

The pub has new tenants and they need to up their game where supplying shiny, clean glassware is concerned. It might have been clean, but the glass supplied with my wife's cider was watermarked and wet which just doesn't look nice - glasses should sparkle! I noticed that another wine drinking customer also had a freshly cleaned, but grubby-looking glass. The pub is attractively decorated with comfortable seating. Being quite spacious, it needs a fair few customers to feel properly 'lived in', but it was quiet when we visited - we enjoy more of a 'buzz'. There's fierce competition from Old Glossop's two other pubs, both within 50 metres and so I expect that it'll take time to build a regular clientele - there's lots of promise though and I wish them well.

On holiday, we were looking for a somewhere to have some late lunch (3.30?) Most places seemed to have lunch or dinner service but Wheatsheaf had a longer lunch service so decided to give it a go. Food was nice, resident dog adorable(!), nice setting decorated for Halloween ?, friendly staff, good music selection for us millenials! Halloumi burger, ham & caramelised onion ciabatta with the salt & pepper fries as well as normal fries. Reasonable cost.

We have not been to the Wheatsheaf for a while now but really fancied a home cooked Sunday dinner. Then up popped a picture on Facebook showing the dinners and we couldnt resist. Booked a table with the family and we loved it. From my 5 year old to my mum (in her 80s but best not let the world know her actual age or Ill get told off) and we all demolished the lot. We will be back soon

Great pub with a quiz which donates the entry fee to a charity chosen by the winners, chip butties are provided too.

Just recently had new landlord/landlady. Used to be a great little pub, unfortunately not much of a welcome when ordering at the bar, considering they are new, the place has had a white wash makeover with ice white led lights, cold atmosphere, very clinical. And a massive price increase, almost £4 more for two of our usual drinks. Unfortunately not my local any more.*update.... It was a Saturday afternoon, not many people in, yes one decent original staff member, very hard working girl. Was charged nearly £14 for a beer, gin and tonic, maybe she has charged me for a double? Definitely wasn't. The same drinks ordered in the Bulls head was £11 and only £10 in the commercial down the road. As for your new gate to contain children and dogs, good luck with that!

Thought I would take my grandmother out for a drink today , for some reason there is now a gate at the entrance to the pub… my grandmother is in a wheelchair , the gate isn’t wide enough and it doesn’t even open the right way , we give it up as a bad job and went to The Bull- whoever has put the gate up has done a really bad job!Won’t be returning

I had the fish which was tasty and fresh with a lovely crispy beer batter coating with chips and my partner had the home made burger ( with all the trimmings ) with chips, both were delicious ( compliments to the ?‍?). The Wheatsheaf pub is dog friendly, the staff are very friendly..... and when the weather allows, the view is amazing. Will definitely be returning ?
