Visited on sat, booked a table for 5, we arrived early, the fire was welcoming and the lady at the bar was lovely, polite and professional, We had drinks in bar first then our food, I had the Lamb Henry, the Lamb was perfect and the gravy mash and veg were delicious, the onky thing i could say is, I could have eaten more mash (I am greedy though) My partner had the rib eye, with the garlic and mushroom sauce, the steak was cooked just how he asked and the sauce was delicious, Oh we had the pate starter too again full Of flavour The only thing I could say I didn’t like, and this is a pet hate, spraying tables with detergent around where people are eating, ( put spray on cloth in another room first. Overall, it was all a lovely few hours and we will definitely be returning and booking a room too, of which we were told are beautiful rooms.

Lovely pub. Warm fire and nice soap after a long walk in the cold. Friendly, the background music was fantastic country sounds. We weren't staying so can't comment on the Rooms.

Dog not allowedShocked to find such a rural pub in the middle of walking areas that does not let dogs inside. There are not many pubs around this area, so definitely missing out by not allowing them in. Drove past here so many times coming back from walks in the Peak District, and would be ideal for a pint and food inside

First time here ,on a few days away . everything from entering the inn ,staff , service , food , atmosphere , menu is small and varied I had the tagine excellent my wife had steak & kidney pie also excellent .hot plates HOT food somewhat refreshing these days as most restaurants seem afraid of serving hot food , Incase of liable . My advice is if it should be hot and it's not send it back ...pronto.

Had lunch here today, probably one of the nicest pub lunches for a long time. Lovely cosy pub and excellent service. No doubt will come back again after a day in the hill!Walkability: Close to Kinder ScoutFood & drinks: Cracking food!Noteworthy details: Traditional cosy pub with great wood burning stove!

The Pub has a lovely rustic feel, beautiful decor and nice and warm, the food was absolutely spot on and very reasonably priced ??

Best steak ever, but I’m so sorry they are no dog allowed inside. And there is no umbrella outside to have a dinner with dog when is raining

We left feeling slightly disappointed tonight unfortunately. We ordered 4 main meals, 2 lamb henrys, and a pie dish and steak (had to opt for this as the dish my friend wanted was unavailable). I had to return my lamb henry as it was like warm. By the time I got it sorted the other 3 people had almost finished eating. It was much hotter thankfully & was OK, not as good as we had on our previous visit for some reason but still OK. We ordered deserts, 2 creme brulè, supposedly served with shortbread......we got 2 maryland choc chip cookies? I mentioned this & waitress said, oh yes we've run out of shortbread. I was looking forward to that bit, not cookies. My husband said his cheesecake was more like mousse, such a shame to feel disappointed this time. I did mention it when I was paying, no offer of a discount or drink on the house. We won't be rushing back soon.

Visited with friends for lunch. Food very good. I had Elvis’ West African chicken curry which was very good. My friends enjoyed the stroganoff. Staff friendly and efficient. Will definitely visit again.

Really nice pub and friendly staff. We turned up without a booking as we couldn't get through on the phone and they managed to fit us in. Good was really tasty. I had the trio of pork, which did leave me a big hungry still, could have done with some more veg with it for the price it cost, however maybe I am just greedy. Lovely place and was recommended numerous times in a guest book at the property we are staying at.

We were staying in nearby New Mills and we passed this place afew times and decided to have lunch there on our penultimate day. It didn't disappoint, staff were very welcoming and the food was excellent. If you are in the area it's well worth a visit.

I can't say enough good things about this place. We needed a quiet place to stay for a family event in Buxton and found this little gem. Everyone there is incredibly nice and thoughtful. The room was comfy and quiet. This is clearly a known good dining location but even so at the last minute they accommodated our large (last minute) group. We definitely hope to return soon!
