The Golden Dragon
69 Market St, Chapel-en-le-Frith, High PeakWas visiting the area and thought we'd give this a go for a takeaway. The food was great and we enjoyed it. There were only a couple of small problems. The first one being, it did take us a while to get through on the phone and when in the restaurant, we noticed the phone would be ringing for long periods and no one would answer. Whether because they were short-staffed or just busy. Second is, I wanted sweet and sour chicken balls and got sweet and sour chicken, but we weren't fussed about that.

New Mills Kebab
2 Meal St, New Mills, High PeakThis is my go to takeao, when I'm fancy one but not sure what I like. What I like to do when ordering burgers (and only burgers so far) is to ask for salad and sauce but not saying what I like. And they always managed to deliver.
New Mills Kebab is an absolute go-to spot when it comes to **burgers**. Their burgers are consistently juicy, generously sized, and packed with fresh salad and sauces that actually complement the meat rather than drown it. The quality of the ingredients really stands out, and every bite tastes freshly made rather than like something rushed or reheated.
What makes their burgers even better is the value for money: portions are more than satisfying, and you never feel short-changed on either the meat or the toppings. The rest of the menu has a great range of kebabs, pizzas and other takeaway favourites, but the burgers are a genuine highlight and easily justify a 5-star rating on their own. The team are friendly, the service is quick, and it’s the kind of place you find yourself going back to whenever you fancy a proper, tasty burger from a local, family-run takeaway.

Memories Of India
37 Buxton Rd, Whaley Bridge, High PeakI'm posting on behalf of ordering a takeaway, as opposed to being in the restaurant - but even the takeaway food was fabulous!
The Chicken Tikka was flavourful and sweet (one of the best ones I've ever had), the Pashwari Naan tasted fresh with great texture and the Popadom was perfectly light and crispy.
Would highly recommend if you're looking for a cheeky curry, although I imagine the rest of the menu would follow the same standard!

Rock Tavern
Wirksmoor Rd, New Mills, High PeakWe visited The Rock Tavern in New Mills this weekend. We were renting a small holiday house nearby and exploring the town for the weekend. We were with our two dogs and thirsty after a long walk, when we found this great pub on Saturday afternoon.
Traditional style and friendly with a really kind and friendly lady behind the bar. My partner asked her for some more water for our dogs. She was delighted to accommodate, and gave us a fresh bowl as they were very thirsty. They even provide a treats jar near the bar which just goes to show the welcome they put on for people bringing their dogs into the pub. The clientele present were engrossed in the Manchester Derby on the TV. It made for a great atmosphere as everybody was getting really excited about what was going on in the football. We have both been so impressed how kind and friendly and welcoming people in New Mills generally are, and this pub was no exception.
We had a really happy time at The Rock Inn this weekend. A super place for a drink. If we are staying in the area again, we would have absolutely no hesitation in coming back again. Five stars for our experience there.

The Bridge Bakehouse
42A Market St, Whaley Bridge, High PeakVisited Bridge bakehouse for the 1st time after trying some of their goodies at one of their wholesale.
Wow the counter selection was incredible, so much variety. I went for their deal of 4 itens for £15.00 and selected a churro cookie that was really nice, the snickers brownie that was packed with flavour (the only thing that I would point is that personally I would prefer the top chocolate layer was more soft rather than hard chocolate, but still very yummy), the caramel and pistachio blondie was really nice (they completely nail the blondie fudginess that I love) and a biscoff slice that was really good as well.
We didn't try the pastries or cakes so I can't comment on that.
But their cookies, brownies and blondies are outstanding and always really good.
Everytime we drive to this area we buy some goodies at the local places they supply as wholesale.
If you are in the area, definitely try it out

The Old Cell Ale Bar
10 Market Pl, Chapel-en-le-Frith, High PeakWe moved to Chapel just 12 months ago and this place quickly became our favourite spot. Tim and Jane have created something really special – a true heart of the community. This little bar has BIG personality. Always welcoming whether you’re a regular or a new face, good range of real ales and spirits and highly recommend the cheeseboard if you need a nibble. It's a true community bar with friends at every table.
