Cute and cozy cafe with delicious food and friendly service! We ordered the savory afternoon tea and the sweet treat of the day (a raspberry custard) and everything was very tasty and affordable as well! Our waitress was very kind and attentive. Had a great time!

Good all round cafe, nice food. Not cheap, but good quality and good choice. I am gluten free and there is a good choice.

We managed to find an indoor table for 2, by the counter, after an invigorating walk at Cuber Gap. It was quite full for lunch and some had even gone outside in the marquee. The homemade soup was good and the rustic baguettes were filling and tasty. Good service, thanks

Lovely place to meet friends for a catch up. Their afternoon teas are a delicious treatParking: Can be a little difficult to park but vehicles move out all the time so doesn’t take long to find a spot.

Lovely little spot, fantastic fresh BIG breakfast, great cakes and brownie, but most importantly genuine and friendly service from the ladies, shows people can still be hospitable in hospitality! We shall return, thanks a lot.

Having read the glowing reviews I decided to go and have a look at this Café. On arrival I found the car park to be almost full. It appears that some people park there permanently. On entering the premises I discovered an obstacle course ,heavily cluttered with tourists tat. The café area is accessed via a pyramid of stairs. You climb up to a landing and then immediately descend. I'm convinced that this is a practical joke.As I entered, I noticed a sign informing people entering that it is table service and to go and find a table. I followed this instruction and immediately a female employee fled into the back and disappeared. I took some photos whilst I waited, but when I realised that I was being deliberately ignored, I began to feel uncomfortable, so I put away my camera and exited. It took quite a bit of time to reach the door because of all the bidies cloging the very narrow aisle. Grateful to be back out on the street I got into my van to head off to the next venue. In spite of the reviews, I would not recommend this business to anyone.Parking: Right outside the café but almost fullWheelchair accessibility: No chance

I call in here from time to time, usually when I’m passing through Calver rather than as a destination in itself, and have found the food and drinks to be consistently excellent. From sandwiches, salads and soups to cakes and desserts, there is a great selection and everything is delicious and so fresh. Coffee is wonderful too and always piping hot, as requested. I do agree with some of the other reviews that service can be slow but, equally, the food is freshly prepared and that takes time. On the last occasion I was here with a friend, we were served by a young male waiter and he was excellent, despite the place being very busy. The cafe is quite small, and there is limited indoor seating, but there are some gazebos outside which are nice in warm weather (less appealing when it’s cold and damp, though!) There’s a reasonable amount of free parking, clean loos (accessed by a few stairs so maybe not suitable for anybody with mobility difficulties) and a very well stocked, reasonably priced gift / craft shop attached to the cafe. All in all, The Eating House is well worth a visit and I’ll definitely be back.

Very average coffee and scones. Top prices for a lukewarm weak coffee and a small flat scone. Not as good as it used to be

Lovely place! I had one of their baguette sandwiches, the homemade hummus, spiced tofu, and pomegranate molasses - honestly one of the best vegetarian sandwiches I’ve had! Really nice homemade hummus, and whoever’s idea it was to throw the pomegranate molasses idea in there was inspired. Nice coffee too :)Vegetarian options: Big selection of veg options here, and if they’re all as good as the one I had I’ll have to be back

The cake was lovely and staff friendly however I was very disappointed to find no baby changing facilities, I'm not sure how accessible too wheelchair users toilets would be either. I would visit again edit baby but I wouldn't recommend to mummy friends who may need to change their babyKid-friendliness: No baby changing available.Wheelchair accessibility: No apparent accessible toilets.
