Excellent service from all of the team, the best chilli and the best sirloin steak we have ever had. The team were really great with our son too who was enjoying running around and having fun. Thank you so much for being great.

After an amazing Sunday lunch I had a night's stay followed by breakfast.Sunday lunch was delicious. Beef brisket with all the trimmings and attentive staff who provided excellent service. The Timothy Taylor Landlord is a regular ale here and makes for a great drink. The restaurant area is cosy and relaxed and there is a snug area as well as a bar to have a pre dinner or post dinner drink. The pub has undergone extensive renovation over the years and I had the chance to stay in one of the guest rooms. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a double bed and a sofa. The double aspect windows provided views over the town and the decor was in keeping with the building. There was an en-suite with complimentary toiletries and a large shower. Everything needed for a perfect night's stay.In the morning breakfast is served in the bar and I chose a full English breakfast which set me up for the day ahead. The Hope and Anchor is a pub full of character, with friendly and welcoming staff. The menu has plenty of choice and the food is superb. The rooms are a great addition and will prove to be popular, I'm sure.

Stumbled across this lovely country pub in heart of this beautiful village. It was quiet enough that we had the snug a and stunning fire place to our selves. The food was great as was the service and price.

Staying in Wirksworth over the weekend. Popped in for drinks. The bar area is warm, friendly staff and decent wine. Not tried the restaurant, maybe next time (we will be back) ?

A group of us, all older, came here for a Christmas-type lunch in December. We had reserved in plenty of time. The food took ages to come and when it did, some of us had almost cold food, which was also quite bland. The service staff were just not seemingly very interested in us. Something we, as older people, have come to expect. Unfortunately. If they'd pulled out all the stops, we would have come again and again because many of us don't drive and would have welcomed a reliable, local eatery. But we won't be coming back.
