Pubs in Matlock

“I had the most delicious roast lamb Sunday lunch. Hugh was a very delightful young man who served us. A great friendly atmosphere. Definitely a place to revisit. Thank you for a fabulous experience. XxVegetarian options: My friend is veggie and she was accommodated with no fuss at all. It was not a problem.”

“This is a proper pub! Really friendly, a hearty Sunday dinner and warm fire. Clearly a hit with the locals but incredibly welcoming of visitors. We couldn’t fault it and would happily drive the distance from home in Sheffield for another visit!”

“A lovely characterful, compact 'Olde World' pub high above the town of Matlock with superb views from the front door and decking. Squeezed between residential properties, this place has an air of the secret about it, but it is far from that as it is a poular local haunt and is frequently busy. With a fab range of quality real ales served just at the right temperature this is a superb place to seek out.”

“Was recommended this pub for their good home-cooked food. It didn't disappoint, Paul had butchers sausages, with cheese and onion creamed mashed potatoes and chefs special meat juices gravy. I had oven baked chicken breast in cheese and garlic sauce, with chips, peas and salad. Two well cooked meals and 2 decent pints. Highly recommend.Parking: Car park behind pub”

“Great choice of beer, friendly owners. There's normally a good range of beers from dark to IPA.There is also a stove so it's cosy. We'll worth a visit as it an unusual traditional pub. It's unusual as entering you feel like you are going into someone's house. They also serve decent wine, cider, soft drinks and also hot drinks made to order. If you like whisky Jim has a decent selection to choose from. This is not a pub to visit for a meal but there are normally decent things to snack on.”

“A lovely little country pub, atmosphere was very relaxed. Sunday lunch meat was cooked well and plenty of it good selection of vegetables but not as warm as we would have liked. No vegetarian alternative or reduction in price for vegetables only and as a vegetarian a small/child's size plate was given which was annoying. If the vegetarian was better it would have been 5 star for the value for moneyVegetarian options: See review no vegetarian alternative same price but smaller plate for vegetables only.”
