We took our daughter out for lunch as the last time we came the food was lovely. However this time I was very disappointed with my meal. I ordered the fish finger sandwich and as the menu stated I could have chips or a salad. You tell me when is a salad not a salad? When it's just lettuce!! The sandwich came with lettuce on it so when my salad came and it was 4 pieces of lettuce I was not impressed. I did ask the waitress for some tomatoes but was told they don't do that kind of salad anymore! Very disappointed to say the least. If you state salad on a menu I at least expect tomatoes, cucumber etc. When we went to pay I was asked how the meal was. I did make my disappointment clear. The gentleman did take off my meal but I don't feel I would choose to come again if you don't know what makes a simple salad. Come on a lettuce is a vegetable on its own. It does not constitute being called a salad. I suggest you change your menu to state that a lettuce is your idea of a salad so customers can make their own mind up when ordering a salad. Even the waiter agreed with me !

We’ve always loved coming to this pub the service was excellent as it always is. Luke served us and he was chatty and funny and this immediately puts you at ease. Service was quick food was lovely and hot and my coeliac meal was excellent can’t really say much more it’s great every time we go and we’ll be back cheersDietary restrictions: Coeliac options are good

I was here to celebrate my birthday with my family, 4 adults, 1 child. I ordered roast turkey. As soon as the meal came, my heart sank, because the roast potatoes were very white, and not properly roasted. There was one tiny ball which comprised the stuffing. I think there was a piece of parsnip there somewhere, over-cooked green vegetables, and not very much gravy. All very bland. Maybe a bread sauce for the turkey would have have given it some taste. The child's meal was almost as big as an adults, way too much, overwhelming for a 4 year old. The best thing was that there was just enough sun to spend a little time in the outdoor area, and the children's playground. Very disappointing.

Lovely food, great service and the staff are friendly and helpful. We always use the Wheatsheaf as a meeting point between Manchester and Nottingham and have never had anything other than a great experience.

What a wonderful, warm welcome we had here. Such a pleasure to be in a place where hospitality and food are both top priority. It is a lovely cosy but quite large place. We were staying at the caravan club site for 2 nights and were lucky enough to find this local pub. We had a delicious steak on Thursday night, sirloin dinner with a pint and a wine £19.50 each. It was superbly cooked and top quality produce. All the staff were extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We were back again for drinks on Friday afternoon then on Saturday morning before we set off for the full English breakfast £8.95 each (what a bargain!) with cereals, juices, croissants, jams, fruit, tea and coffee and a large freshly cooked plated breakfast. They are also on the Brit stop so if you have a motor home or camper your welcome to park there too!Absolutely fantastic, would not hesitate to come back and would recommend to friends.A big thanks to the lovely landlady who welcomed us at breakfast and all the staff.

As soon as we stepped through the door there was a warm and friendly greeting. Everyone so attentive. The food was delicious and hot, not luke warm like other eating places . There were 4 in our group and we had a very enjoyable evening. Thankyou to all the staff.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available.Parking: Disabled parking available

The food was ok - it was hot, & the seabass was good, but it was expensive for the amount of food - the bulk of it was potato. No one came to our table to begin with - in the end I fetched the menus, although the waitress did apologise & the service improved after that. The interior really does need some attention - the entrance with its battered door & peeling paint isn't a good introduction, nor are the initials scratched onto the toilet doors. A lick of paint would do wonders.Plenty of parking places.

Welcomed with a smile and shown to our table. The bar staff were very attentive and helpful. The food was outstanding and very reasonably priced. We were so impressed we have rebooked for this Wednesday “pie night”. The pub is very dog friendly, water and dog treats were available. Well done.

Only went as of the pubs in the area were closed on a Monday. Food really poor. Not much better than I could’ve bought in Lidl. However the staff were lovely and the pub dog friendly.

I went in before we ate, to check that there were still vegan options, which there were. I believe that there should be another couple of vegan options, such as sausages and mash, but that's for the future. The staff, as always, were very helpful and attentive, even though the pub was very busy. The seats are comfortable - important to one such as I, with a hip problem - and we had a good table. The food, both starters and mains, were very tasty, and there was plenty of food.I would have liked a dessert but - this is my only negative comment - there was just one vegan option, a brownie, when it is so easy to have a fruit pie and custard. Please go through the menu and add a few more vegan options. ?Vegetarian options: A couple of vegan options, but more needed.
