We thought we would give this place a chance as it's under new management again. Unfortunately that was a massive mistake, we both ordered hunters chicken which took a while to arrive despite it being nearly empty, only 3 tables dining. We asked for vinegar which was given in a sauce pot no bottles on the table and the chicken was completely inedible dry as a bone. It stated it came with fries, coleslaw and onion rings, the onion rings were just greasy batter, recieved no coleslaw and the fries were chunky chips bit probably the only edible item of the meal. We were never asked how the meal was as there was only 1 member of staff running the bar, taking food orders and serving them. I didn't eat the meal as stated it was dreadful, when the food was taken I expressed my disappointment and was given an apology and told he'd let the chef know. When we got the bill we were still charged for every item despite being unable to eat it, I told the waiter I was unhappy to pay for the meal in full as it wasn't acceptable. Waiter had to message him manager and a round of drinks were removed from the bill. Would not return or recommend anyone to eat here. It was also freezing in the restaurant I had to keep my scarf on while eating.

I visited the Bulls head early evening yesterday and was really happy! Ive been staying away all week in nearby Matlock and came across the restaurant after searching the area on google. I had a cheese burger with chips, the potion sizes were generous and the quality even better! Also a special mention to the manager Leanne, she really couldn’t do enough for me and her customer service was impeccable. Will definitely return if and when I’m in the area again, highly recommend a visit!!

Lovely meal enjoyed by all of us. Food was cooked to perfection - compliments to the chef. Staff helpful and friendly. Games night was also a nice idea to bring in the locals Hopefully people will give this place the chance it deserves and come for a meal here.

We went for a birthday Sunday lunch, it took over 50 minutes for our drinks to come to which we was told the drinks will be took off the bill due to having to order them more than once for them to arrive. The young servers are petrified of staff and constantly apologising profusely and shaking while cleaning tables, when we first arrived we even saw one that looked to be crying - not the nicest experience. They kept coming and asking if everything was okay multiple times where it became beyond a joke. While waiting for our food we got approached approx 4 times asking 'is there anything else I can get you?' bit of an awkward time to ask this while we are waiting for our dinner - we don't want anything else, we would like our dinner. Our food finally came after a long wait too except for one meal, we kept chasing up when this burger was going to come out. They told us many times 'it is just being plated up now'. We had all finished our dinners and it still had not arrived! We told the staff not to bother with the burger as the gentleman had gone off the idea of having this as the idea of eating your meal on your own is not nice. We asked for a white wine, they brought out a red. While we was eating our dinner we was approached approx 6 times asking if our food was okay - it got a bit silly. There was just never ending problems. We had to ask multiple times for sauces and when they finally brought sauces out they missed the ones we actually asked for. When we paid the bill they didn't take off our drinks as promised, but they did give us discount on the food. The table next to us had been waiting for their desserts for almost an hour. The whole experience was the strangest. If you want to be served by petrified servers that don't seem to have been trained properly this is the place for you.

My friend made a last minute booking for Sunday dinner for 4 of us. Not having been there for years I was unsure of what to expect, I was not disappointed the bar was lively with people dropping in a for a lunchtime drink, many with there dogs stopping off after a post Christmas walk.We had dinner in the restaurant it was lovely very tasty, hot and great portion sizes, the deserts were huge and home made really finished the meal off with smile. Lovely staff very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Drop in and help support this business if you can highly recommendedParking: Big car park loads of room

I used to love bulls head, nice busy atmosphere and food always nice. Was excited to see it reopened and booked via Facebook, a lovely speedy response. On arrival we were greeted by two young members of staff, they didn't have a note of my booking but we're very apologetic about this and we were seated and offered drinks. The young lady waiting on our table seemed very worried and anxious and kept apologising which I found unusual given there was really nothing to apologise for. Our food order was taken and yet more apologies for nothing at all. There really was no issue. The Sunday roast we had was ok, all hot and tasted fine. I don't think I'd have a roast again. A young waiter then came over and asked if we wanted the bill which I accepted and asked if we went to the bar to pay or if they came to us, he shrugged and wasn't sure but didn't go to find out. No problem as we wanted to finish our drinks and enjoy a chat anyway. When we got up to the bar to pay the lady behind the bar wasn't very welcoming and seemed to also be on edge. Overall I can't say it was a pleasant experience nor did I feel relaxed. Wouldn't return in a hurry unless it was for a drink. Lots to work on with the customer experience and constantly apologising when I hadn't complained about anything was very unusual. Hopefully the youngsters can gain some coaching and have proper training so they can work on their customer service skills.

Good food and portions , had to ask if they had any vegetarian dishes , and waited 15mins after our table was cleared to not being asked if we required a dessert , need to improve their upselling.we then paid and left and had dessert at home.

Terrible food and terrible service. There was dog poo under the table too but no one seemed to care!

The bulls head is our local but we hadn’t visited for about a year as reports hadn’t been great under the previous owners. When we heard it was under new ownership we went up on a snowy Sunday to test it out …..the Sunday lunch was fabulous - one of the best we’ve had - food was delicious and the service was excellent ! We have been for another meal since and also for drinks after breaking up for Christmas - which was perfect as we were also offered a cheeseboard and other snacks, which were very welcome and made for a lovely evening. We will be back :-)

My friend and I had a lovely meal here ,the only thing that spoiled it was two young boys racing around and being generally badly behaved. Otherwise very nice. staff did try to sort it.Parking: Lots of space
