Not happy being let down & not giving a reason. The only thing we can think of is they have sold the room for a longer stay. So think before booking this place. We were really looking forward to going & taking our lovely old cavalier dog with us.

A really charming and beautifully-presented guest house in a peaceful rural location. Our room was comfortable, homely and had a lovely view (with comfy chairs by the window so we could enjoy it - a nice touch!). The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and Helen, the owner, couldn't have been kinder or more thoughtful. Everything about it spoke of care, thought and attention to detail, but with a genuine sense of hospitality. Dogs very welcome (not just tolerated) in all parts of the house and, yes, the breakfast was excellent. A real find, and we hope to visit again.

This is our second time visiting. Our first trip was four years ago and we enjoyed it second time around just as much. This literally has everything you would want from a guesthouse. Beautiful, well maintained room, excellent location, top breakfast and a very warm welcome. Helen and Sarah your hosts can't do enough to help, making you feel well looked after and relaxed. The perfect balance. Our little dog Babs loved her first family holiday too and could obviously tell that her owners were feeling very well looked after! Can't recommend highly enough. We are a couple with a dog our dog was also received with affection from the resident dog George. The other hosts, Helen and Sarah, were also friendly and very helpful. This B and B stay was everything we like in a guest house. The bedroom and Bathroom was very spacious comfortable. with lovely ornate curtains and black out blinds, there were more facilities in the room than you would expect right down to a show cleaning kit. All very clean. Great breakfast included a variety of fruits, cereals, delicious sausages, and perfectly cooked eggs. good coffee, Perfect. If you have a dog and or an electric car this is the best place to stay. The ultimate dog friendly place with spacious well stocked garden to relax. This place ticks more boxes than you can imagine.

We are a couple with a dog. We crave accommodation in a quiet rural location. Fern Bank is a beautiful stone , double fronted house in a quiet lane. Footpaths extend up and down the road to some of the loveliest countryside that the UK can offer. Chatsworth is just up the road, Haddon Hall and Bakewell to the west. Our hosts, Sally and Helen, were friendly and very helpful. We left the car in their drive, but there is good parking on the road. Our bedroom faced the countryside to the rear of the house. No road noise, occasional bird and cow noise. Which is what you would expect. This BandB stay was everything I cherish. The bedroom was small but comfortable and beautifully furnished with Edwardian antiques. The en suite is small but modern. All very clean. The breakfast was taken in the front room. Again furnished with Edwardian antiques. Great breakfast, good coffee, substantial cooked breakfast. Perfect. Dog was happy too.

Booked a room here for a family wedding a long time in advance. Week before wedding we get an email saying we have to cancel through booking.com because of personal reasons. We cancelled booking.. checked later and room was back on booking.com asking for more money.. not happy!!! Pure greed.. we struggled to find another place to stay but managed to find an air bnb bit further away but at a cheaper price.. thank you!!!!!!

Warmest of welcomes you arrival and leaving the B&B. Went above and beyond to help us out and give us as many tips and pleases to go. Recommend a great pub for lunch on our last day which was amazing! Great room, very clean everything you need and more in there. Breakfast was great and could have whatever you wanted. We will be returning with the dog so he can rekindle his friendships with the house pooches. Had a great couple of evenings drinking wine in the garden, I personally found it very romantic and I couldn’t get enough of this place. Thanks for an amazing stay and see you soon.

If you are visiting this area, you could not find a more friendly place to stay with your dog. The food is excellent, lots of choices for breakfast, freshly cooked and delicious. Lovely views, great garden to relax in after a long day and local walks to suit all. We will return, the hosts made us feel at home and we felt we had made some special new friends.

So welcoming and cannot do enough you can really tell they love what they do! They make every visit very special. Lovely for us we can bring our dog and do the walks around the area. Can’t wait to go back! PS for whoever goes always have the full English you won’t be disappointed!

We had the most amazing stay at this lovely B&B. Helen and Sarah were so welcoming and gave us lots of information about the local area. The breakfast was the best we have had in a long time and the decor is beautiful. We had a wonderful evening meal at the Peacock and you can walk to Chatsworth (5k) from the B&B very easily. We hope to return in the future! Thank you!

We first stayed at this B and B 3yrs ago and this is our third visit to Fern Bank. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Helen and Sarah. There is always a warm welcome. The facilities are excellent and the breakfast is just superb from home made jams/marmalade’s to lovely warm bread! In these difficult times of COVID you can be rest assured that you will feel extremely safe here as they have sorted everything out so you will feel safe and enjoy the wonderful area. It’s so lovely to have wonderful hosts, a beautiful B and B and to have splendid places to visit. This is an ideal place to stay for walking, visiting Chatsworth, Bakewell and the surrounding area. We will be back! Thankyou
