We had the valentines taster menu and it was absolutely superb. The service was fantastic and they went over and above to accommodate my food allergy, and changed dishes as needed.

Birthday celebration meal yesterday evening at the Peacock. Service was discreet but friendly. Food full of delicious flavours presented to a high standard. Thank you for the birthday card, such a lovely touch. We will be back.

If only we'd come here for our Golden Wedding instead of The Cavendish. Every aspect was so much better.

Been wanting to try this place for many years and eventually called in on Saturday lunchtime. Lovely welcome by the staff who showed us to the last table in the bar.Wow, what an amazing lunch, imaginative we'll cooked delicious food. There was no rushing which was good as I just wanted to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the place.Really enjoyed, we will be back quite soon I suspect!Food & drinks: Extensive wine list, cocktails and locally brewd beers.

An incredibly dissatisfied lunch experience. Whilst the food & service were good I was overcharged by £32 . A helpful response where I was told that a mistake had been made and a refund would be made - except they took another £32 from my account- oh dear another phone call so I’m now down over £100 for a approximate £38 lunch and it’s going to take 2/3 days to get a refund - hopefully!Happy Christmas!Nearby activities: Derbyshire Peaks

Excellent food and service in a lovely old hotel built from stone. There is a welcoming warm feeling of home when one enters the building. The quaint public rooms along with an outstanding restaurant and cosy bar with fireplace and a real fire make this a must do for those that like the finer things in life.Food & drinks: Very good food and excellent wine list.

I had a lovely 3-night stay at The Peacock! I booked the stay to get some much needed R&R and to do some walking in the Peaks with my brother and that is exactly what I got. The staff were really helpful, the food was delicious, the garden was very peaceful and the breakfast was exceptional (the Eggs Benedict was a highlight)! I really liked the morning newsletter with interesting facts and a daily riddle, a really nice touch. I would definitely stay here again!!

This hotel is not ‘dog friendly’ - it is dog tolerant and I believe there is a difference. You cannot have any meals either in the dining room ( ok ) but not in the bar or lounge either accompanied by your faithful hound. I did not take kindly to the suggestion to leave my dog in the car having driven for many hours to get there. The hotel and rooms are comfortable but a small fridge would have been a good idea to have fresh milk with tea or in my case to store dog food. Considering the room rate I was surprised at the lack of amenities. There was no dog bowl for water or anything for Fido to sleep on. There are plenty of very good local options at half the price that welcome dogs. You can however book a days fishing direct with the hotel and although it wasn’t mentioned by reception, entrance to Haddon Hall is free if you stay there ( no dogs there either even in the grounds ). No EV car charger but one at the pub next door. The staff were nice but I wouldn’t book again.

The Peacock is a charming place to stay. The decor is timeless, elegant and in keeping with the beautiful building. We stayed in a room on the 2nd floor (16) which was very clean and well appointed. The bed was super comfortable with lovely bed linen. A fabulous bathroom with luxurious toiletries. Breakfast was a real treat ‘the best breakfast I’ve had for a while’ was my husbands verdict !! A special thank you to Hilary on reception for a warm welcome and Valentina for the shortbread !!! A fantastic place to stay, we enjoyed every minute!!

The Peacock is a beautiful traditional hotel with attractive gardens, a restaurant serving food of exceptional quality and situated in one of the most attractive areas of the Peak District. It is one of the finest examples you will find of traditional English hospitality with a well-trained, attentive staff catering to your needs. Do not expect to receive everything that the hotel offers at a bargain price, but it offers good value for money and for that special occasion this is certainly a location we can wholeheartedly recommend. We stayed here for my wife's birthday and we will be back again in the near future. If we have one regret is that we were so satisfied by an absolutely wonderful dinner, with something as seemingly mundane as freshly baked black treacle bread to die for, that we could not do the fullest justice to the array of options available for breakfast the following morning. In short this is a lovely hotel offering wonderful food in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. I have not written a Trip Advisor review for many years, but I am happy to do so as a thank you to Hillary and all of the kitchen, restaurant and cleaning staff for all of their hard work behind the scenes.
