Great coffee shop that does wonderful artisan coffee and tea. The owner is never too busy to have a chat about coffee and is always willing to help on the best technique. The cashes are wonderful as well. They do a blue light discount as well so that's is welcome. Fabulous place

After reading reviews we decided to stop here for coffee while in Axminster. It didn’t disappoint. The coffee is delicious and the staff very helpful. We also bought some cake to take away which we thoroughly enjoyed later. It’s a bit out of the way, but well worth finding.

Honestly the best coffee shop I've found. Sadly not too close to home, but I always make an effort to stop by whenever I'm driving past. Laurence and the team have elevated flat whites and bagels to a literal art form. Picture below!

This hidden gem is a treasure! We stopped by for lunch on a Tuesday. I had a perfect macchiato and a delicious sandwich with super-fresh greens on the side. Had to top it off with a "Gazzillion-aire Bar" (flapjack base with toffee and chocolate) which was also delish. It's quaint and cozy and the service was perfect. Before leaving we eyed the house-made Orange Drizzle Cake and HAD to go back the next day to try it - as wonderful as it looked! Keep up the good work, Higgler's!

Poorly made cappuccino, wildly overheated oat milk that was thin and burnt, rather than velvety and barista grade. I'm also sure the grinder wasn't dialled in properly as there was a distinct watery taste to the coffee. Just a tip...get the barista to smile a little. We can't come back.Yes I am related to a local competitor (this is a response to the owners reply below), but we came in good faith (me, my wife and two children) because we love local business regardless of who they are. However I am also a coffee lover and gave your coffee shop an unbiased review of 3/5. In fact it was worse than a "3", by virtue of the fact that the coffee was terrible, but you were a friendly chap, or so I thought, so what I've done now is I've changed my review a "1" to reflect both the quality of the coffee and your attitude. You could have invited me back and offered me a true reflection of what you (may) normally serve, but you've barred me now. Oh any by the way, I've in fact given several local coffee shops a 5-star review...maybe we should also report these, or do we only report the bad ones? I'm confused!Maybe you should change your coffee shop name from "Higgler" to "higgledy-piggledy" :-)

Lovely little café. There was a great atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I had a mocha, which was absolutely delicious. My partner had an americano and he said it was the best coffee he'd had for many years. We will definitely be back when we're in the area.

I've sat in a couple of times recently an stayed for a short while and I have never been made to feel pressured on that I should leave after I have finished my coffee / lunch. Very generous portion sizes always leaving me full with fresh ingredients delivered whilst I was there! Quick to be seated and attended to and an excellent range of food to suit all dietary requirements and preferences. The owner himself is very knowledgeable about coffee with a large selection of teas and coffees to try - slowly making my way through the list! Although the smoothies appear small do not be fooled as they will still fill you up and are very fresh with a good selection of flavor combinations. Sadly limited outdoor seating alongside a road however the interior is full of plants and decorated very stylishly. A hidden (or not so hidden if your local) secrete of Axminister.

An hipster bar I would say at first, then I realized it's a higgler! The service isn't quick but they really care about food, presentation and, definitely, to you.Water is self service, coffee is at its best with fluffy foam over the cappuccino.Few outside tables and a large room decorated. Are you ready to spend there more time than expected?
Coffee is better than any chain coffee store. Welcoming and knowledgeable staff and friendly atmosphere.

I realise that I've reviewed twice now, which is probably over the top ? , but my second experience at the Higgler was just as delightful as the first. I popped in for a quick lunch with my other half this Saturday and was greeted by the same lovely teenage girl, with the same lovely smile as before. Service was as always amazing, the food was delicious and my husband(who was somewhat sceptical of my raving about how amazing it is )was just as impressed as I was. It truly is lovely to have these small local businesses, run by local people who provide the best experience possible for everyone, always with a smile on their faces. I also love how the cafe is dog friendly as it always brightens a day to see a furry friend whilst out. Thank you to the lovely staff and owner for my lovely food and experience once again.
