The Tytherleigh Arms
Tytherleigh, AxminsterWe went as a group of 6 friends to celebrate all our birthdays throughout the year. Everything about the evening was perfect, the food, ambience, surroundings, service and staff, all 5 star. The finishing touch of superb service was the presentation of our beautifully arranged joint birthday candles (photo attached!). A really lovely evening, thank you Tytherleigh Arms.

The Hind
The St, Musbury, AxminsterThe friendliness of the locals and the landlady / staff made for an entertaining couple of hours. The ales on tap are excellent and well-kept. The facilities are spotless and the building itself charming. Not a thing wrong and everything right.

New Inn, Kilmington
The Hill, Kilmington, AxminsterReally love this pub, really friendly team. My 90 year old father goes in once a week for a meal (when he can) and they really look after him.I had the medium roast there on Sunday, the meats were turkey, beef or lamb, or you can have a mix of any of them, there is also a vegetarian option.Just dad and I ate but there was enough food for four.Total bill for two meals and two drinks was £35. I live in Surrey and in most the same meal would have cost around £55.Has an amazing garden with beautiful views. In August they have bands in the garden.Parking: On Sunday if busy can be hard to park.

Railway Kitchen
Station Yard, AxminsterI cannot recommend or rate Jack’s business highly enough. The food is always to a very high standard, Jack’s team are amazing, the cafe is clean, warm and welcoming. It is by a country mile my favourite place to eat in Devon. Quiz night tonight was fun as always. We were treated to burger and chips. Top quality burgers and chips done just how I like them. If you have yet to visit the Railway Kitchen, please make the trip. You will not be disappointed.

Ric's Kitchen
Castle Mt, Victoria Pl, AxminsterA pretty unique place. Have visited regularly since I moved to Axminster in January 2023. All food cooked to order. It's not a large place, so limited number of tables available and limited opening hours but this helps to ensure truly personal service with a relaxed ambience.

The Teapot Cafe
Gammons Hill, AxminsterFirstly I don't do anything other than honest reviews.I have been twice this week having come from NOTTINGHAMSHIRE to visit my son in Axminster. The service is great, they always have enough staff so that there is hardly ever a queue or a wait.Plenty of tables inside and out and despite not having been since September last year I was remembered by the staff who are all lovely. The food is of the highest quality and once again the Sausages (most important part of a cooked breakfast IMO) were exemplary!Dogs welcome in the cafe inside and outside. There is a fantastic garden centre and farm shop which not only sells great local produce but it now has the Butcher's meat products on-site, supplying the café and for customers to purchase.Highlight of my trip.5* coffee5* food5* service5 * atmosphereThey have a number of other small local businesses opening up around the site, including a wood turning school, and in the near future a dog groomers, so plenty to see. Please give the thumbs up if you found this review helpful.Wheelchair accessibility: 100% accessibilityI have been many times and it is very easy to get around. There is space for small mobility scooters but the cafe is small so I guess leave the larger ones outside however fully accessible by wheelchair

14 Lyme St, AxminsterWe’ve dinned here many times before and it’s always great. The service is good, but the food… oh the food. The burgers are amazing. Im guilty of always getting the spicy jalapeño burger, and it never fails to deliver. The spice in that is no joke. ??? My wife has to get a gluten free bun as she has coeliac disease, and it’s never too much trouble to accommodate this. The kids burger meals are also top value for money. We will return again and again.

High Grange Devon
Burrow Knap Way, AxminsterWe invited Luke to cater for our wedding (c. 80 guests) and it was one of the best decisions we made. Luke produced a menu that we couldn't have designed ourselves, but gave us exactly what we were looking for. More importantly, the food was unbelievably good - a number of guests commented that it was the best meal they'd ever had at a wedding. I would wholeheartedly recommend High Grange to anybody looking for a top quality private caterer - and certainly recommend their feast events too, having been to one last Easter and been blown away by the amazing food.

Kit & Kee Catering
Great Trill Farm, Pudleylake Rd, Musbury, AxminsterKit & Kee’s food at our wedding was incredible. Everything was so fresh and full of flavour and the service was totally seamless. The trout, lamb, loads of interesting herby vegetables and tarte tatin were all delicious.Visiting the farm for our tasting with Chris was our favourite part of wedding planning and it really felt like we were creating dishes with him, as opposed to choosing from a fixed menu. It’s also great knowing that all the produce is local.Would highly, highly recommend them. Thank you Chris, Esther, Carlotta, Hugo and team!

Axminster Inn
1 Silver St, AxminsterWhat a joy to find a pub with such well cared for real ales. I wasn't feeling too great, so couldn't have as many as I would have liked. The IPA and 200 (both from Palmers) were top notch. I should add that the staff and atmosphere equal the quality of the beer. I am tempted to move to Axminster to have this as my local!

Coffee Factory ltd
Unit 3 Samurai Buildings, Seaton Junction, AxminsterAfter sampling what the nearby LBW had to offer, we popped here for a coffee before heading out again. Fascinated by the roaster and chatting to the staff, we ordered our coffees and sat outside to enjoy the sunshine. Lovely coffee, and the aroma coming from our cups and the building were amazing. Friendly staff and didn't mind chatting to my husband and father in law who found it all fascinating. Well worth a cup or 2.

The Bistro at Hawkchurch Resort & Spa
Wareham Road, Hawkchurch Resort & Spa, Hawkchurch, AxminsterWe booked lunch on Christmas Day and it was excellent. The restaurant was full and there was a nice feel to it. There was a welcome drink on arrival and you were shown to your table quickly. Each table was decorated and there were crackers and table displays with your name on it. It was one sitting and you seemed to be served in order of arrival which was a good idea as you had a break in between courses. The sweet potato soup and the fish starters were both really good. 2 of us had the Turkey dinner and you could not fault it. There was lots of Turkey, the roast potatoes were soft and there were plenty of vegetables. The others had the rib of beef which they said was excellent, the meat so soft and tasty and again the potatoes and vegetables were really nice. All desserts we ordered were really great too, we chose sherry trifle, Christmas pudding and apple tart. The staff were really attentive without being over bearing and they all worked really hard. All drinks ordered were delivered quickly. If you are staying here over Christmas we would highly recommend you book the Christmas Day lunch you would not be disappointed.

Costa Coffee (Axminster)
1 Victoria Pl, AxminsterPopped in this morning, on my way to the banking hub for a quick breakfast. Charlie was holding the fort on his own at the time I visited and he was absolutely fast on the service, with well-orchastrated movements. Certainly working hard to keep the queue down ?

A35 Pit Stop
Kilmington Cross, AxminsterOur room was clean and warm, water was hot, and with toiletries provided. It is on the A35, but sound-proofing is surprisingly well, one can't hardly hear the traffic when windows were shut. The restaurant has become a Greggs, so no more free breakfast. You need to get the room key from the cashier of Greggs, and ask them for WiFi password. There is a petrol station next door and they have a convenience store there. Axminster is just 10 minutes away, with some good choices for dinner. Overall, the motel is ideal for an overnight rest on the road.
