Booked a table for 7pm on their own Web booking site.Turned up just before 7pm and was told that there was no table available for about 2 hours. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, there was 2 tables full with groups of about 8 on each, and a couple of small tables with 2 at, so I suggested that I eat in the bar area(something that they do offer), I was told we are not doing bar food tonight, despite menus on every table and a note saying quote your table number when ordering food.I was also told there will be a party of 9 arriving shortly and they will need to be told the same thing. The woman at front of house seemed quite proud about it and also stated they she had been turning people away all day.I explained that how could I reserve a table on THEIR own website that didn't exist?I was told to ignore the website booking service, as a computer cannot know how busy they were.I explained that the website must be managed by the restaurant surely, and not expected to think for itself????I sat and had a beer watching as the woman turned away couples, groups etc, in total amazement. It is strange that in the present times a business like this can afford to turn away so so many paying customers.Absolutely ridiculous. So there you go, I can't tell you how good the food is as I never got that far.I don't know about being called table table, this one should change its name to no table no table. After a day's work and staying in the hotel next door I just wanted a hot meal. This experience was terrible and I'd never book a table at this place again.I didn't even get any kind of apology, just glared at like it was me that had done something wrong. Please be aware that this restaurant is obviously very understaffed and the staff they do have are very unprofessional, and remember just because you have booked a table for 8pm you may not get it until 10pm....take your pajamas with you!

Stopped into today for a cold drink and decided to stay for food, I opted for roast and it was delicious and my partner had double stack burger which he too enjoyed, we even managed a yummy sundae each for dessert ? great service from both Chelsea and Lewis as always thanks everyone ?

Came and visited this place for dinner whilst on our way back home…. Must say the waitress’ we had was amazing. She recommended us the cottage pie, which was cooked perfectly and tasted yummy. She was very attentive and informative… her name was Stacey. Once we had finished our food we moved to the bar area which was busy but had tables available. We were met at the bar by the ever smiling sally who served us our drinks. Overall would highly recommend this place and also the cottage pie ;)

Came in for dinner and was met at the door by the smiling Chelsea, she took me to my table and told me what food was available and was not. My server, stacey, came over and took my food and drink order within minutes. Food came out hot and all cooked perfectly. WILL BE BACK

Greeted at the door by Gaynor fairly promptly sat in an quite place tucked away. Caris was our server she was efficient and met us with a smile. She suggested the mixed grill. Our food came out and I enjoyed it. Sally another server came over to see if everything was ok, it was. We ordered the triple chocolate brownie suggested by caris once again which I thoroughly enjoyed. When paying the bill we were given 25% off our next bill and was waved off by sally with a smile. Overall a lovely service. I read the previous reviews and was concerned however was proven very wrong by the lovely servers caris and sally!

Staff are fine but there are not enough of them. Wait ages to get a drink or order food at the bar. One person managing all that. No restaurant tables available but a third were empty, can't imagine the reason. Place just looks old and tired. Would never use this place again and hence also the attached Premier Inn. Food was ok mind.

First impression is they are understaffed. Eventually, we are taken to our pre-booked table. I mention to the lady immediately that it's sticky. "Of course, I'll fix that right away". Followed by some waffle about the spray they use to clean making the tables sticky. She does not make good on her promise and we never see her again. I notice the radiator next to our table, number 25, is dirty. One of the menus is covered in food. A nonchalant young man in chef's whites turns up to take our order. Usually he's behind the bar but today he's a waiter, he tells us. In chef's whites I mention the sticky table to him and he tells us he only uses soap and water to keep the bar clean. He reckons they use too much of the concentrate in the spray mix. Some soap and hot water would be welcome at our table, but it's not to be. I lift the menu from the table. It makes a loud, sticky noise as it peels off. Chef/waiter/barman takes off. Starter arrives. Cauliflower bites. It's very good. Mains arrive. Young lady server makes to lift my menu, which is now firmly adhered to the table in front of me like a table mat. I explain that it's there to protect my jumper from the sticky mess on the table. She shoots off. Wife's Cobb salad is lacking avocado. Nobody asks how we're doing, so no chance to advise staff. We finish and wait to order dessert. We wait. Eventually, I go to the bar myself. Waiter/barman/chef tells me he was "just about to come and take your dessert order". I order and mention that there was no avocado in the Cobb salad. He pretends, very unconvincingly, to look over his shoulder into the kitchen. "Ah, yes, we don't have any avocado." Maybe someone, at some point in the process, might have let us know? "I'll take 30 pence off the bill." 30 pence. I decide to walk away. Desserts arrive. Very nice. We go to pay and notice £2.00 deducted for missing avocado. We pay and make our escape. Never again. Restaurant is a disaster.

Well, what an improvement! Food was generous, cooked to perfection and well priced. Not like we have experienced a few times before. We were told the Company has invested more into the establishment and it has definitely paid off. Well done! Our lovely, efficient waitress was Sally who was very knowledgeable about the food and beers etc on offer. We will be returning especially as they, in our opinion, have upped their game.

Stopped for lunch on way to Hele Bay, hadn't booked but was swiftly taken to a table. The food was great, served in the time you'd expect. The service was fantastic, especially as it was Julie's first day, very friendly and helpful. No complaints whatsoever with the visit. Thank you.

Having returned for a second occasion we encountered a busy but very organised restaurant, the team were working amazingly together. They all seemed to know what each other needed doing and help out. The service we received was perfect from the host who sat us to the lovely service we received at the table and then the additional drinks from the bar, all done to a highly professional standard. The food was also perfect Hot food and plenty of it.... the lasagne was delicious with salad and garlic bread and I'm told the steak was handsome! The deserts were the highlight with the vegan icecream being a must

Very clean Chelsea our waitress was very attentive and did a really good job. We were a table of 8 celebrating a birthday, Chelsea brought us a gift and bubbles for the children. Only issue was the sirloin steak was very fatty.

I ate here for two nights and both meals were poor, Service slow and the overall impression was that they were struggling. The second evening I asked to see the Manageress about the quality of the food, which she said was Whitbread's standard i.e. lukewarm chips, synthetic chicken and ribs. She at least was kind enough to offer a refund.
