Very homely pub. Food was very good - we had the chicken pie and hake with garlic spinach topping. The profiterole we had for dessert was perfect too. We will certainly come back.

We drove up to this pub in the dark and went inside and was worried we had made a bad choice as no one was In. We couldn't have been more wrong, the welcome was friendly and warm and within a few minutes lots of other people arrived. The menu had a great selection and it was super tasty good. The food was cooked fresh it was hot, flavoursome and we had fabulous service.

We came here on the night of our wedding, there were 10 of us in total. Firstly the service was fantastic. Justin was so friendly and helpful and was there just when you needed a refill or needed something, but wasn't in your face. We had a variety of starters, mains and desserts and we had adults and teenage boys with us as well as the dog. The portion sizes were very generous and the veg was cooked to perfection. Every single meal was delicious and the flavours were gorgeous. This is a great place to eat and if we are in the area, we will definitely return.

Wonderful dining experience, as soon as we entered Justin couldn't have been more welcoming, great wine selection great beers, he explained the handwritten menu to us in detail, everything is home cooked and it's really difficult to choose as it all sounds delicious.The dessert menu didn't disappoint either with the sticky toffee apple crumble a hit with my husband. I had the most citrusy lemon posset served with a buttery homemade shortbread biscuit.We only wished we lived nearer as it would be top of our list for dining.Parking: Parking at the back of the Inn

No frills little pub but the food is absolutely amazing all homemade and very generous portions . Could not fault it , you could tell the landlord and landlady take a real pride in their work. Brilliant!

The New Inn is our favourite place to eat in the Barnstaple area. The food is incredible, cooked to perfection with locally sourced produce. Justin and Julia are perfect hosts, making customers feel welcomed and very well looked after. The choux bun dessert is an absolute must but make sure you leave some space and plan a nice long walk the next day!

Lots of choice of delicious dishes and locally sourced ingredients. Friendly service and welcoming hosts. They obviously enjoy welcoming guests to the New Inn and lovingly describe and and present their food. We enjoyed our dinner and would return. Very generous servings.
Had a warm welcome & talked through in detail the menu which was plentiful we had starters & mains & food was delicious large portions & piping hot - we really enjoyed our night & highly recommend a visit here.

This is a treasure of a place - I almost don't want to tell you! Clearly, the landlord(s) are devoted to offering excellent food, beautifully done, great value and service. We were in Barnstaple for sad reasons, but our meal here, on the evening of a sad day was just perfect. Highly recommend.
