We - a group of seven for lunch and five for breakfast - enjoyed great value for money food and drinks with excellent service while staying at Winsford Cottage Hospital - a Landmark Trust holiday home . Our stay, in Jan 2024, was during bitterly cold weather!

Very nicely cooked food and the bar lady friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our meal. Thankyou.Pity about the tatty state of the beer garden though, which might put potential customers off, because otherwise it could be a first rate pub.

Friendly staff, very polite with good service and brought a water bowl for the dog when weather was warm which was much appreciated , and a lovely meal.

I’ve been here a couple times now and it has a lovely versatile menu and the service is always great. Highly recommend to come here if you’re passing through or nearby.

We walked in here at 7.30pm last Thursday night. The place was completely empty except for a table of 5 in the corner who had just been given menus. We spoke to the lady behind the bar to ask about food, and she literally said “we’ve only got one chef in the kitchen so there might be a bit of a wait” .. I looked around at the empty bar and restaurant and asked “how much of a wait?” … she then promptly told me that because we had not booked (the empty establishment) , and the table in the corner HAD booked, that there was not telling how long we might wait because the table would take priority. We left immediately, baffled by the responses of the crazy bat behind the bar who clearly did not want customers.Really strange. Do yourselves a favour.. when you see the state of the gardens and wonder to yourself “should we trust our instincts and avoid here”… trust your instincts.

In one word…outstanding, food was fantastic, price was great, the atmosphere was chilled and relaxed. I listening to old soldiers (at a different table) tell war stories made my day. I seriously recommend stopping in if you are in the area. Not only will you get good food at a great price, it’s possible you could learn something to, I did.

Spacious very nice historical photos depicting when trains ran past the pub. Had fish and chips. Chips where nice and hot. quality of potato's was substandard as well was the batter. Fish was a large piece quality of the fish was poor. Prices where very resionabe.
