The driest chips we've ever tasted...ever! Curry sauce was basically mango chutney, would be great with a poppadom. Cook seemed stressed out but wasn't particularly busy. Absolute waste of a chippy tea!

A first for me, a chip shop that doesn't sell Pies or Cod roe.The food they did sell was OK.'Regular' sized Portions were TINY!Service was excellent.

Not found a better place to sit down and enjoy fish & chips. Great service, love the ‘top up’ chips and the extra piece of a cod, as our three pieces were ‘below weight’?! I’m sure we’d never of known, needless to say we polished off the extra fish! If you’re around North Devon, give this place a visit, you can thank me after!

Best fish and chips we have ever had.

The best chippy by far, everything they do is just on another level. Special mention for the lad that made the flat white (on 18/03/24) it was perfect, the wife noticed the great design on the coffee top too.

Messed up large booking 10 of us sat in confined seating, because they messed up booking felt rushed. Mediocre burger didn't taste nice or quality. Not a nice experience not relaxed at all.

A family run business that deserves all the accolades . On holiday from Bournemouth and took the advice of trip advisor reviews. So glad we did. Restaurant was excellent in every respect. Outstanding fish and chips and very reasonably priced. Great service and good atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend.

I originally came from Northwest England and moved to North Devon in 2022. My partner had told me about Squires in Braunton and how delicious the food is and how the family has built the business up over many years. My first visit there (in the restaurant) was NOT a disappointing one. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly and helpful. Recently, we celebrated my partner's 30th birthday there and we all had a fabulous time. I tend to have the fish curry with chips AND rice (Benidorm fans will know of this, haha) as this is truly beautiful! Writing about it now is making me hungry. My partner tends to have the Mini (huge) Cod and chips. She always clears her plate, as do I. My partner's daughter enjoys the burger and chips. I would highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. It is always busy, so booking a table may be advisable. The only gripe I have is they don't do any pies. As a northern lad I do enjoy a nice Steak & Kidney pie or Steak and kidney pudding chips, peas, and gravy. However, this is a personal thing and absolutely no reflection on Squires' service at all. Highly recommended.

We always visit Squires when we are in North Devon. Yesterday we visited for a family birthday celebration as a party of ten. The food was delicious, as always. Great choice on the menu and such good value. Friendly and efficient staff and if I could give Squires more than five star, I would.

After a 5 hour drive to Devon, we stumbled accross Squires for a late takeaway fish and chip super. Sadly we were told that the friers had already been switched off and they were no able to serve any more fish. The look of tiredness and disappointment on our faces was clearly enough for the staff to kick into an awesome next gear of service, as they then offered to fire up the fryers again to cook our supper! And what a supper it was. The cod was cooked beautifully with a lovely crispy batter and soft delicious fish inside. The chips were textbook chip shop chips. Great service. Delicious food. Well worth a visit.

Squires is an outstanding restaurant serving excellent food at bafflingly low prices. My partner and I went there twice on our recent trip to Devon and thoroughly enjoyed both meals. The fish and chips, quite deservedly, have won awards, the poached fish in sauce was delicious and to cap it off, if you are somehow still hungry after eating the very generous portions served up, you can ask for more chips! The ambience is great - simple, bright, spacious and comfortable and the staff are lovely, courteous, friendly and helpful. Fabulous place.
