Great pitstop for a quick beer! Even had a decent alcohol free bottled beer for me ?Looked like great food but only stopped for beer on a long hike. Maybe food next time!

Terrible roast meals , very fatty pork with hardly any meat ,beef extremely tough almost inedible.

Been here several times in the past. Although food nicely presented the food represents poor value for money. Last week three chose the fish and chips while I decided to try the special which sounded fabulous on the board but fell well short of expectancy on delivery. If what I received cost more than £2 to produce, a £17 price tag was disgusting. Volunteer staff without sufficient experience of serving food and drink also needs addressing. 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts is hardly a menu. For a pub owned by the locals, the menus offer little to attract local customers to support the pub. Gourmet it is not except at the prices. Hearty food like shepherds pie, sausage and mash, fish pie etc at affordable prices might just get more “bums on seats” and boost income from wet sales. Cheffy may win Rosettes but doesn’t generate revenue to support the pub and your ego.

What a FABULOUS little pub. THIS is what true pubs should be like. It is community run, and my wife and I went on spec. hoping to get a meal. The pub was busy, (early evening) but we were made welcome immediately. They checked, and said YES, they could fit us in. A great choice of beers and lagers. None that I knew of (as we live in the North West. But with a bit of guidance from the staff, we got s lovely local draught beer and a great lager. We then had a super meal. Lovely choicees cooked beautifully. I wish this was my local.

Lunch there today. Friendly welcome and quaint surroundings. Preceeded lunch by a pleasant stroll around this lovely village in bright sunshine. Very restricted menu whereas 'on line' the sample menus displayed are far more comprehensive. I mentioned this fact to the lady behind the bar; she said that the situation would be rectified by adjusting their website. Food well cooked but the smallish portion sizes possibly weren't commensurate with the price. Overall, however, a pleasant experience. We shall return probably in summer when the menu should be more extensive.

What a find! Loved the very relaxed, community feel and was instantly at home. Had the Turkey and Christmas pud washed down by two brilliant local ales. Put it on your 'where to go list.' (Probably best to book)

We came after a walk on the off-chance of a lunchtime meal but unfortunately they weren't serving food, having been busy with their beer festival in recent days. The staff were very friendly though, and we would certainly visit again. It seemed it would be a nice atmosphere. At least 7 other people were disappointed too, while we were there having a drink.
