I can't comment on the food, as only popped in for a hot drink, (pot of tea) but a beautiful place, overlooking the River Dart, with amazing views. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices.

A very average breakfast.not impressed with the quality or the amount. And more expensive than other places nearby.

We stopped here on a visit to Dartmouth for lunch. It has a French feeling. We had chicken breast with a lovely garlic and herb sauce, and Braised Lamb pie. We also ordered a mixture of sides - Brussel Sprouts with roasted chestnuts and new potatoes. For dessert we had an Affogato and Almond and Pear Cake. All the food was of a very high standard, cooked on the premises. If I had any complaint it would be the lack of Devon ciders, of which we have many good ones.

The manager and staff were friendly and made sure we had a table as we hadn’t booked. The food was delicious especially the fish and was a good price. The atmosphere was really relaxing. I would highly recommend eating here.

I live in Dartmouth and took two visiting friends for dinner at the Embankment as I know its excellent reputation for both food and service. We had a fantastic evening - both starters and main courses were delicious and we were all so full that we couldn’t manage desserts, which was a shame as they looked great. I ordered the beef cheek based on a recommendation from Kosta and it was amazing. We also asked for a wine recommendation and liked their suggestion so much we ended up getting through 3 bottles of it, so they clearly know their wines! Kosta and the team really looked after us, nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel very welcome. They also did the same for other diners, singing happy birthday to someone on the next table. As to location, Dartmouth is stunning and we’re lucky to have a few restaurants in lovely buildings and/or with good views, but none can compare with the view from the Embankment - you’re as near to the river as you can get and the building is unique as the only railway station built that has never had a train arrive (good pub quiz fact!) Overall, another fantastic visit, with great hospitality and service from Kosta and his colleagues and great food from chef Dimi - thank you!

Visited middle of December, having been keen to eat here since it was taken over and changed to its current offering. I was welcomed with my dog and offered choices of places to sit so opted for a river view, still pretty at night! I was offered a welcome drink whilst I looked at the menu so treated myself to a glass of Bollinger. The waiters were very helpful and offered me a fish main that wasn’t on the menu, agreeing to serve it with frites and a side of seasonal, creamed sprouts too! I had the starter of croquettes and again the waiter recommend a light Romanian red wine, which he said would go with the fish dishes. The starter was ok, I have had tastier croquettes, they weren’t greasy but could have had more flavour. The mains fish was cooked really well, the frites, again they were ok and the sprouts were quite nice. The wine was lovely - I’d recommend trying it. Overall I felt quite underwhelmed with the food. There was nothing wrong with it but I understand, and maybe this is not the case, that there is a connection to the chef Elly at The Angel, a very highly regarding restaurant in Dartmouth, so my expectations were high. I wouldn’t rush back here for the food. I’d try it again perhaps with one of the meat mains but I was disappointed. I can’t fault the service, the waiters were welcoming and friendly, although a table of four ladies arrived towards the end of my meal and they were given complimentary welcome drinks, not something I was offered - perhaps this is reserved for groups? I spoke with a friend after my visit who had previously visited here and she agreed it was “ok”. I think that is the best way to sum it up. Perhaps if the connection with The Angel hadn’t been in my mind, my expectations would have been lower but if that connection is there it seems a shame that the food is not more memorable. Would I return? I’d maybe give it another try but it wouldn’t be a first choice sadly for a meal out.

Visited for coffee on a sunny winters day but was told we could only sit in the shady seats as the sunny seats next to the river were for breakfast people only! But the place is empty we said. Have people reserved? I’m sorry sir but only on the shady side please. The place looked nice and we probably would visit on a regular basis and would have eaten there as well. However I have never been told that seating is restricted unless specifically reserved and so we left without coffee. They must be losing a lot of local business by enforcing this rule.

Superb food, good choice, delicious and beautifully presented. Excellent service, friendly and helpful. And surely the best views anywhere.

We had a delicious dinner, yesterday evening, and can well recommend the butternut squash soup, the beef cheek and the Bakewell tart - our compliments to the chef. Jason looked after us really well - nothing was too much trouble. We spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

A bunch of 12 ladies out for Saturday drinks and nibbles. We were warmly greeted and table extended as there more people than expected. Kosta , Kay and Jason very welcoming. We were a bit lively but they accommodated our humour. Drinks and sharing platters were produced and a good time was had by all. The lovely Chefs produced the food rapidly which was just the thing for early evening drinks.

I ordered the chicken ciabatta - comes with a generous portion of chips and salad. I also had a side of bread with dip and it was great quality, the bread was the perfect temperature and crisp. The atmosphere is cosy with a lovely river view and welcoming service.

On a family holiday in Dartmouth, we went to the bistro for food. We went to sit outside as we have dogs. We asked if we could order the main menu food and eat outside as per the website advised. We were told that they don't serve main menu food outside, but if we wanted snacks and hot drinks, we could order from their hatch. I'm really disappointed with this bistro and the service. Wouldn't recommend it if you have dogs unless you want a ham and cheese sandwich and a coffee. We went and found a lovely sit-down hot lunch elsewhere.
